Azur, I had to come back to this blog and comment because I had a U2
moment, a kind of blast from the past the other night. I used to be very into them, loved Joshua Tree, listened to it constantly, it had memories.
I've since put it away, but the other day, I went to the record store and I was inspired to buy War again. I also introduced an 87 year old Irishman to them as a younger version of When Irish Eyes Are Smiling, which the bartender absolutely refuse to hear one more time.

I've seen them 8 times. It's been a year since they were here in Dallas. I hate always having to wait 4-5 years for the next show. I'm glad you and your son enjoyed it!

I saw the 3 times live. One time in Warsaw, Poland, and twice in New York.
This band is like a part of my family( joke). My brother has a thousand something cd's, from all over the world. When I was visiting him last time in Poland I was shocked when he showed me all this collection.

Hi Azur. Have seen you out and about, but no posting this week?
You should have gone to get Bono's autograph. I would be interested to find out whether he can write.

Hi, Azur,
I just wanted to say hello, also. I'm a long time fan of U2, and I admire Bono's humanitarian efforts, and his use of his musical influences in a positive way. I have to say that I find Kanye West's talents questionable. He's become a bit annoying to me lately, much in a Tom Cruise sort of way, unfortunately. It's a little hard to see past the ego when it keeps overshadowing what I might have once admired about him and his work. Just my thoughts. Thanks. :)

Azur, I think that those who generally say that artists should leave
politics out of their art are those who disagree, but don't feel the same about those who agree with them. After all, no one told Ronald Reagan or Arnold Schwarzenegger to get out of politics because they were actors.

Bono is a great guy!
I am so glad you had such a wonderful time at the concert with your son. Is not it great when two generations can share and enjoy the same music. You will cherish that memory forever. Songs are a very good way to sweep a country by storm with revolutionnary ideas, and they are a catalyst for change and a precursor to change and a vehicule for new ideas. It is goog to use whatever art is appealing at the time ie music to be a vehicule for new ideas and raising awareness. Songs and music can be so arousing and moving, music is timeless, it unites as much as it divides, I think Bono's wish would be to unite and forget our petty differences and save the world.

How aweseome Azur!
And I just love this: "Sometimes being sensible is the unwisest thing to do"...you betcha and an education like your son received at the concert and the thoughts and actions is might inspire, is far more than he could have learned by going to bed early and acing an exam.
