a bit like chosen names in third world countries. A friend of mine (swears this is true) spent some time in an African province and reported names like Elastic, or Licorice, because they liked the sound of the words, picked off advertising hoardings.

That is so fun. Some of the rural areas of the Southern United States are about as quaint. It was good luck for you that your daughter knew the ropes before you bought your properties. Great post.
