Bel

Thanks for calling in. May I refer you to my reply to Rumored Intelligence?

You hit the nail on the head! Surely we have enough in common ; enough human attributes of tolerance, love, compassion for others to rub along together? How sad that we don't!

Did you get my email?

Rumored

Thank you for your comment, and your continuing support. Please excuse my sending the same reply to others, won't you? It's tiresome to write what one wants to say in many different ways to different people.

Men seem to be infinitely ingenious in finding ways to express their anti-Semitism, and it grieves me to see the gentler sex being if anything even more virulent in their hatred of the Jews. It is bad enough when expressed overtly, but is even worse when covert, the writer not having the guts to come right out with what they mean.

I have spent decades ( on and off ) researching the roots of anti-Semitism, and I have to say that I am as baffled as when I began. The popular belief of mankind needing a scapegoat doesn't quite cut it. Is is some atavistic religious thing that survives even in atheists? Hatred of these Christ killers? Who knows?

Ariel,
a superb post! It never fails to amaze me how anti-Semites selectively appeal to history in the attempt of cloaking their viciousness in a mantle of 'right'! [And no, I ain't Jewish either.]

I am with you on this, I think. I am not not Jewish nor Arab, nor are any relatives or friends. IMHO and only in that, I believe Israel is a true country and has the right to have peace. Looking back to just last year when some of the land was given back, I think they demonstrated their commitment to peace. One can not have peace where hatred is constantly killing your people. Having said that, I also believe they have practiced restraint given their capability. Have a good day!

Until we stop looking to find what makes one person different from others
we will continue to find such differences.  Maybe it's time we look for the things we share versus the things that seperate us.
