- Go to THE BOMBING OF GUERNICA. PART ONE
Terry, having read these two pieces backwards, so to speak, it somehow
makes the horror of it even worse. Like when you go to see a Shakespeare tragedy that you know well - you know what the ending is and suddenly you're viewing the start and middle in a new light, seeing how it headed irreversibly towards that ending.
Before today, my only knowledge of Guernica was the Picasso masterpiece. I thank you for your erudition.

Ariel
Today I have asked many people in the Spanish Saloon about Guernica. Mostly my question was met by a blank stare. The main newspaper for Aragon did not even mention the anniversary. It seems the general public has a memory similar to the attention span of a gnat. This must be one of the reasons why such awful things continue to happen. If we don't learn from the past we make the same mistakes in the future. Thank you for reminding us.
