Ariel70, It has always been interesting to me that Torquemada, like Hitler, is supposed to have had Jewish blood themselves.   I don't understand their way of thinking.  Good writing.

Thank you for your comment.

Indeed so, so much of history writing is biased heavily in one direction of another. And you are right to point out that much of it is victor's history.

But I'm surprised that you don't read much of it, for there are some really excellent works out there, and sometimes one comes across quite startling revisions of widely accepted opinions.

I hope that your blog is goin well, and I'll drop in soon, probably tomorrow, 'cos it's nearly bedtime for old dudes here in Spain.

Might be going to snow too. Brrr! Hate it!

You chronical well and paint the foundation with an expansive library of knowledge. I do love history but a little more recent vintage, usually. The reason that I leave it alone for the most part now is it dashes reality with assumptions, victor's shading and a comingling of today's sensibilities with those of a previous writer's. It isn't bad, but to be honest I always label History as fictyion now.

Sadly, so have we all. I've had a fair share of stick in here, and I've been blocked. Yep, not only blocked, but called a " Pompous and patronising buffoon" " a tired old piece of crap" Oh, and to add insult to injury, " Sonny Jim"!

I didn't know whether to be insulted or flattered! And all that was quite apart from being lied about in the most blatant and insulting manner. One really does need to develop a thick skin, when one set out on the perilous, shark-infested waters of blogit!

Myddryn

Thank you. High praise indeed, and I shall have to see to it that I live up to it in future posts.

It saddens me that in their quest for a good, peaceful life, so many people become ignorant of their own history, because who want to read all that sad, shocking stuff that went on so long ago?

Would that it were truly so! For iniquity flourishes as freely or even more freely than in the past.

Rame

Thank you for your continuing interest in my work.

Mankind has a depressing and infinite capacity to devise every new methods of inflicting suffering, degradation and death on their fellow men.

The folly of it all is that in a very real sense the the torturer becomes no less a victim than the tortured ; a slave to to his own sadism and repudiation of human values.

Ariel,

I so love to read your work. I can only appreciate that I become more historically knowledgable everytime I visit. Shadow

Ariel, yes, we do...I sometimes have to stop myself because I get very
upset when I think of intolerance and get very intolerant with intolerance, LOL  Yet, I really think it's dangerous and your posts attest to the primitive nature and destructive force of such censorship and inquisition.  I've been subjected a time or two to it here on Blogit, as many other bloggers have, and it's downright scarey how the irrationality of it works, and what people will justify in its name.

It's fascinating to read your work.  It's "interesting" how cruel man can be to man and has gotten no better throughout the years.  Great post.

That's very true, but it's clear to me that in mainly secular societies, such as we live in today, the concept of heresy has been transplanted root and branch into politics.

We see it here so often, don't we? One who believes in the current political orthodoxy deriding those who don't ; and vice versa. And even more so in the Christian/atheist debates that rage in here

Ariel, heresy is a man-made concept that needs to be eradicated from the
ignorant channels from which it came.

Thank you.

Sadly the concept of heresy still exist, both within and without the churches, for what else is violating political correctness but a form of secular heresy?

Intolerance and racial and religious hatred too still flourishes in our midst.

We never learn, do we?

Ariel, excellent post...I'm so glad you're keeping this subject alive and
before us...I think it's important for the world to remember this awful time so that when we see hints of it in society and government we PROTEST against it.  Thank you!

Flame

Thank you for dropping in again.

History has an uncanny way of repeating itself, and I think that it's very true that he who knows not his history is doomed to re-enact it.

There are lessons for us all in history ; if we but take the time to study them

For some time now, I have come to discover that, your posts are not just of strong historical relevance, it is also educative and helps those who can understandn to know that most of what are happening today are simply copies of what has happened in the past. For all the information and instructions, thank you on behalf of others. Cheers
