Sounds like your father-in-law is pretty great. Count your blessings there, dearest. Well. . , all except for that butt-crack. But, I guess you only REALLY have to worry about seeing that during the winter months. LOL

He is a wonderful man Maggie
and while this year I am sorry he is so far away...I have to admit he would probably make me crazy if they were here for sunday dinner every week.

Hey, MW, he sounds like my kind of father-in-law......
It is too bad he's 300 miles from you and Carl.  I bet you miss a lot by being that far apart.  Oh well, so long as he stays in good health and can come to you and vice versa.  You're very fortunate.  I was too - I had great in-laws and I miss them every day of my life.

Good morning, M.W. "Yoopers" must be like the Rednecks in the south where
I grew up, or "Hillbillies" in the mountains where I now live. Either group, like Yoopers, has some mighty strange ideas! "Yeah, Buddy! We'uns is mighty strange!" (NC mountain talk)

MilitaryWife...
He sounds like a caring man with some distracting qualities. Don't we all have some of those!

LOL!
Blanche, I don't know how to explain this man...he is HIGHLY intelligent even with less than a high school education...but where he is from is similar to the backwoods of Kentucky stereotype.  They have their own ways about them and some of the stuff they think...oh my!

MilitaryWife,

I'm not sure where the line is drawn.  My boyfriend is a news junkie who listens to news talk radio from dawn to dusk if I'd let him,  then gets upset about Rove, Delay, and others.  He's not ready to call the FBI, though.

LOL Blanche
He has some strange ass ideas!  He is wonderful, just has his own way about him.

MilitaryWife,
Except for the part about the FBI, your father-in-law sounds like a loveable curmudgeon. But it might be a good thing that he's 300 miles away.

LOL!!!
He's gonna be grump when he gets back LOL!

MW... well, he sounds sweet in a crotchey old way... LOL Harmless... but

gruff?  LOL  I think DM is probably one of those without power in Florida?  Just guessing.  He's been very quiet... maybe someone went and tied him up and gagged him?  LOL

Blackcat
LOL!  Describing dad as sweet is so not in my vocabulary.  He makes DM look passive and shy LOL!  But for some reason those tend to be the kind of men that I come to love more than any in this world.  Speaking of DM...where did he go?

He sounds sweet... nothing wrong with seeing signs of your grandpa
in your husband or his father.  I think that's a great thing!

Kris

As long as his butt crack doesn't show we will be fine... Dad is something else, he cracks us all up and we make fun of him till he tells us we are all full of shit.

In many ways, he reminds me of my Grandpa...EWWW what does that say about Carl?  LOL!

MW
Sounds like you have a pretty good preview of Carl in the future.....and nice to know you like him so much the way he's going to be!  I can hear the love coming through both ends of that conversation....I'm getting so excited for you....won't be long at all.  Got those curtains made? All the painting done?  And, btw, guess what I found last night!? The disc with the dang pirate story I started on it!...but now my shoulder is all frigged up and I can only do limited typing...but I'm going to figure out how to take it with me so when I'm in Irving....if I ever get there and on the job....I'll be able to write your pirate tale...of course, you might not be interested once you get Carl home!!
