- Go to LA SUSANA. A FIFTEENTH CENTURY SPANISH TRAGEDY, PART 2
Myddryn
Thank you for your continuing interest.
de Susan was not burned for treason, but heresy. His crime was not an atttempt to overthrow the monarchy, but the Inquisition in Seville. Which was a hypocritical way of getting his money, and suppressing any dissent.
In the unholy alliance between monarch and Inqisitors, Spain was plundered as if by a hostile occupying power : what one Protestant chuchman rightly called " a carnival of plunder "
As a matter of interest, I've decided to add a tiny post setting out a few examples of this tomorrow.
I'm about to post the last part of La Susana

Ariel,
Ouch! Mmmmmmmmm.........well, if her father was burned at the stake, then his crime of treason would have given the church or state the right to confiscate his property. So she wouldn't have had many options opened to her especially giving birth to a bastard baby at the time. But, I bet she makes a come back. She is upper class stock. Loving every minute of this read.

Your posts has a unique thirst, for it always sound old but when you look at it keenly, you discover that it is also very relevent to our modern day society. What I have learnt from your posts is that, there is nothing new in our world today. It is just as though we are living in a merry go round in this world of us.
