I just got off the phone
with my mother, and we were saying about the same thing you're saying here. There are soooo many little problems that stress us out in our day to day. And, you look at the people in New Orleans, and you come to realize there's no reason sweating the small stuff.

you are so right.  I pray that this is as far as anyone here really feels the effects.

LOL, I was that way when InkedForLife was counting down the minutes to go home.  We tend to share in both the sorrows and the joy here...kind of nice, isn't it?

Factor

If things go as planned, he should go be on his way starting tonight.  While it was a delay, it's not too horrible.

Military,
I'm almost as excited as you are! I can't wait for him to get home to you! Deep breaths until this weekend!

Military_Wife,

But, just think, he is still coming home to your arms.  It is sooooooo wonderful!

I would like to send you a picture of my daughter.  I've told you all about her.  Her hubby is to arrive from Iraq on the first.

Not at all.  It's fine...yes there is a bit of disappointment, but he is still coming home.  Because it's over the weekend and not the work week our best friends (adopted family) can be there with me to welcome him home.  Everythign works itself out.

I would much rather see the planes grounded than adding to the tragedy.  the airport has reopened which is good.  I can only hope that those have lost so much can pick up and start over somehow.

you have a great attitude. I know it's disappointing but it could be a hell of a lot worse. Take it from me, I'm about 45 minutes from Atlanta, the weather has been hell. It's much better to keep those planes grounded..no need for more disaster from this. In the meantime keep your chin up and your eyes on saturday

Luckily I had somethings I needed to do this week that I was putting off, so now that I have the extra time, I can take care of things.  Thanks so much!!!

Oh sorry to hear this MW

but you are so right, delays pale greatly when compared to what is happening to those ravaged souls down south. I think a tragedy of this proportion causes many of us to realize how lucky we are and how fragile that luck really is. Cherishing my blessings here and determined to find joy in every day granted.

That said, I know your arms are empty and aching for your beloved - may the hours slip quickly.

Nope, not a soldier...they tend to be a little errrr ummm crazy LOL!  Just someone who realizes that after over 9 months, two days isn't much.  Keep in mind, I also pass the home of a fallen Marine everyday and see that Marine flag still flying high and proud...it could be so much worse for me.

It does help to count our blessings.
especially in light of what Katrina has caused.   Your reunion will be that much sweeter for the delay.

After reading this, I question if you are not indeed a soldier too! You sure have a big heart and compassion for mankind. I am sorry Trudy, I know how much this meant to you and Carl!!

posted by Offy on August 30, 2005 at 7:18 PM | link to this | reply

It's natural to be disappointed, but a lot of people would only see the inconvenience to themselves. You, however, have a kind heart and see that the suffering of thousands that this has caused is far bigger.  And I'm sure your hubby does too!

I'm glad it doesn't cut into his leave time!! Don't feel bad for being
disappointed or even complaining.  You have every right.  I hope it doesn't turn out to be such a long delay.

MilWife, I lived through Hurricane Hugo, which relatively speaking, was not as bad as Hurricane Katrina. The difference being 140 MPH winds, versus 150 MPH winds. Keep your chin up, darlin'...it will all be worth it when you get your soldier in your arms...been there, I am a former Army wife...but all that seems so far away and long ago now...Bless you, and yours...I know the sacrifice you personally are making...and I thank you....

Leave it to you to take the high road. Me? I don't care how bad
off other people are, I ALWAYS find time to feel bad for myself.  lol!  Don't worry, it'll just make seeing him again that much sweeter.
