About bloody time!

I finally have uninstalled the Paint 3D photo editor, which only took a little cruising around the pc neighborhood until I found the ways and means, while I was trying to reclaim my computer back from one of those lying Your computer has been compromised warning attacks. The way to do that is... Sign in to see full entry.

Seattle in Winter

It's raining now... the sound of it on the roof and skylight is sweet, at least to those indoors. There is still plenty of snow around but the streets are clear mostly. The Snowpocalypse of 2019 seems to have passed. The flight on United's "Basic Economy" fare was better than I expected it would be.... Sign in to see full entry.

When you need a visa...

I didn't even think about this when I committed to the trip to Beijing in April. But you must have a visa to go to many countries in the world where we don't have no-visa arrangements. It can be a really complicated process, so if you don't like to deal with all the hoops, if you don't live... Sign in to see full entry.

Seven Falls Gorge, Colorado Springs

My daughter and granddaughter and I spent a few hours in the mountains below Pike's Peak. It was a grey, drizzly day in mid-week, so it wasn't by any means crowded, and while the road from the gate to the falls is about a mile up-slope, there's a tram for those who don't want to walk. There is also... Sign in to see full entry.

captioning...

This is the write-up to go up on the wall at the Academy Art and Frame Company beside the three photos of Whitby Abbey. On a night of wild storm, the sloop Demeter runs aground on the north Yorkshire beach below the ruin of Whitby Abbey with no crew but the captain, dead, lashed to the wheel, a... First images, new camera

New camera time! Canon PowerShot sx730 HS, with some better attributes than the previous one, still in the same size and weight range. One of the things I like best is that it is faster than any digital I have had before. It is one of Canon's newest models, slightly wider angle, 20 megapixels, 40... Sign in to see full entry.

A house in the woods

From every window, the view is green with tall firs all around, and while the ground is brown with needle mulch, everywhere small plants are springing through. There is lots of trillium, past bloom or too young for blooms, but I will have to plan an earlier spring visit next year. There are some... Sign in to see full entry.

My first overseas trip was to Italy, backpacking and hosteling for a month between mid-September and mid-October in 2012. I celebrated my 50th birthday with a climb up to peer into the crater of Mount Vesuvius. These photos were all from disposable cameras as I didn't have a really good one at the...
