The Shift

It is always pleasant to see the first sign of daylight. This morning, with the waning earthshine, the experience was heightened a bit. I had to take a shot of it. Sign in to see full entry.

The Perfect Companion

"Da-da," Sam asks worriedly, "where's Pepper?" "Don't you worry about her," I assured him. "She and I were doing this long before you and Luke came along." She starts in on me the day before, staring at me and following me all over the house. Nothing I do satisfies her, until I ask, "You want to go... Sign in to see full entry.

Butterscotch and Pee-Wee

These two are seldom mentioned, but they round out our family nicely. Butterscotch is a 13 year-old Golden Retriever. Pee-Wee is some sort of lab mix. I picked him up almost dead from starvation. He was 28 pounds and skin and bones. He now weighs 77 pounds, five years later! Sign in to see full entry.

Wild Carrot

Queen Anne's Lace grows wild in many areas around here. Sometimes, it is so prolific that an entire field will be white with these showy heads. Often referred to as a wild carrot, the root of this plant smells and tastes very similar to a real carrot. It is very fibrous and impossible to chew up,... Sign in to see full entry.

Best Friends

Bam-Bam is an integral part of our family. He loves the boys, and anyone else who comes by. Here he is on a typical morning. Noah has taken to lying all over him. He seems to like it! Sign in to see full entry.
