A Quilt of Leaves

when the quilt of leaves was drawn back yellow-green tendrils shivered bracing themselves against the howling march winds as if to say "not now, not yet" now we are naked and prey to predators who peck and gnaw we were cozy under our dark organic blanket of compost our only refuge is to reach for...
