I was bitten by something the other night. I thought at first it was a mosquito but never had one this big and continue to spread. It does itch. It's red and like a welt - hard in the center. I woke up at three in the morning in pain. My back locked up somewhat and it took a few steps before I could walk semi-comfortably. It continued through the night.
