My Daily Travels

It's the first day of summer, but surprisingly not a scorcher for this time of year. The 75-degree weather is mild, partly sunny, and enjoyable. I would have never guessed that the smallest creature running around my yard would be the biggest troublemaker. He seems to have an appetite for our pepper plants. Due to conflicting work schedules, we are celebrating Father's Day tomorrow instead of Sunday. To get ahead so that I can spend some quality time with our guests, I have some cooking to do today. I have a huge variety of flowers growing in my flower beds, but one of my top five favorites is my Calla Lily. Her blooms appear to have sprung up overnight. For whatever reason, our grass grows fast. It seems as though we need to cut it about every 4 to 5 days. We also need to weed the flower beds, trim along the walkway, and use a trimmer on the hedges, which we plan to replace with a split-rail fence one day. Anyway, we will take care of those tedious... Tuesdays are our day off, so we usually do something fun. We are both fans of romantic comedies, Julia Roberts, and George Clooney, so the movie Ticket to Paradise hit all of the bells and whistles for us. Last night at around 6:50 pm, a tornado touched down in my Boro. We were sitting on our porch at the time, so we didn't hear the warnings on our cellphones, but we did hear a freight train coming from the west, over the river behind our house. I would normally prefer a sunny day, but the rain is needed. My rain barrel is nearly empty, and my veggies, herbs, flowers, and plants all need a good soaking.
