It's the first day of summer, but surprisingly not a scorcher for this time of year. The 75-degree weather is mild, partly sunny, and enjoyable. We celebrated Father's Day yesterday with the kids, so today I'm going to treat John out to dinner at his favorite restaurant, where we can dine outdoors.... Sign in to see full entry.

The Biggest Troublemaker in My Yard Happens to Be the Smallest
I would have never guessed that the smallest creature running around my yard would be the biggest troublemaker. He seems to have an appetite for our pepper plants. We had assumed that it was the groundhog feasting on the plants, but I caught Chippy in the act this morning. He got a pretty stern... Sign in to see full entry.

It Has Been a Father's Day Prep Day for Me Today with Lots of Cooking
Due to conflicting work schedules, we are celebrating Father's Day tomorrow instead of Sunday. To get ahead so that I can spend some quality time with our guests, I have some cooking to do today. I plan to make a big pot of sweet-and-spicy baked beans with crispy bacon. I am also making... Sign in to see full entry.

My Flower Bed Has Been Graced By Beauty This Morning
I have a huge variety of flowers growing in my flower beds, but one of my top five favorites is my Calla Lily. Her blooms appear to have sprung up overnight. For "throwback Thursday," I'm making a meatloaf, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, and buttermilk biscuits for dinner. Sign in to see full entry.

Other Then Going to an Overdue Doctor's Appointment, it's Yard Catch Up Day
For whatever reason, our grass grows fast. It seems as though we need to cut it about every 4 to 5 days. We also need to weed the flower beds, trim along the walkway, and use a trimmer on the hedges, which we plan to replace with a split-rail fence one day. Anyway, we will take care of those tedious... We Started Our Date Day by Watching a Romantic Comedy This Morning
Tuesdays are our day off, so we usually do something fun. We are both fans of romantic comedies, Julia Roberts, and George Clooney, so the movie Ticket to Paradise hit all of the bells and whistles for us. The storyline is about a divorced couple who fly to Bali, Indonesia, to stop their daughter... Sign in to see full entry.

Yard Cleanup for My Neighborhood This Morning
Last night at around 6:50 pm, a tornado touched down in my Boro. We were sitting on our porch at the time, so we didn't hear the warnings on our cellphones, but we did hear a freight train coming from the west, over the river behind our house. As soon as we realized what was happening, we ran for... Sign in to see full entry.

It's a Rainy Day Sunday Here in Pittsburgh
I would normally prefer a sunny day, but the rain is needed. My rain barrel is nearly empty, and my veggies, herbs, flowers, and plants all need a good soaking. My only plans for the day include running to the store once the rain lets up to buy some deli meats and cheeses, and looking for sale items... Sign in to see full entry.

I'm Throwing Together An Easy Dinner Today
It's a bit of a scorcher today, so we have plans of staying indoors where it is cool. John and I are fans of Mexican food, and nachos tops our list of dinner favorites, so I'm going to throw together seasoned taco meat, salsa, cheese, jalapenos, green onions, guacamole, and sour cream over... Today is the Day That I Enjoy My Favorite Food in the World
If I had to choose one of my top five favorite foods to end a long work week, pizza would be #1 on the list. There is just something about the simplicity of dough, sauce, and cheese. Then comes whatever topping you are craving. From the ultra-supreme to the breakfast, Mexican, seafood, or ham &... Sign in to see full entry.
