Since the Steelers/Bills game has been moved to tomorrow afternoon, I have a bit of free time on my hands today. It has been a long time coming for a good deep cleaning in my home office which is packed full of my favorite books, including a few from my fellow bloggers. I sorted through more than... A Very Busy Yard This Morning Despite the High Winds
None of these guys appear to care about the high winds. The red-headed woodpecker is pecking away at his suet, and the squirrels are hanging from the bird feeders while the Cardinal watches them empty the buffet. A couple of crows attempted to join the buffet, but the squirrels weren't having it.... Sign in to see full entry.

Revisiting A Few Old Southern Favorites Today
I used to make one form of potatoes or another with just about every meal when the girls were younger. Being of English and Irish descent, they are a natural favorite. Oven-roasted potatoes topped the regular request from both John and the girls, and they preferred them to be served with Southern... Sign in to see full entry.

Sunny, but Cold Outside Today in the Burgh'
This is the perfect day for catching up on a few of my favorite series. I will also be preparing a meal that I will freeze and then serve on Tuesday when my middle daughter and her husband stop in for a visit. They requested that I make stuffed bell peppers with a side of garlic and rosemary mashed... Sign in to see full entry.

Not A Fun Day by Any Means, but It Is Ending Well
I woke up this morning to a computer that was demanding five different updates from security intelligence to cumulative updates for windows. My computer has been dealing with this for most of the morning. I am not a fan of technology, but this is the world that we live in, so I deal with it as it... Sign in to see full entry.

Strong Winds, Rain Predicted to Pour Down All Day, and A Hot Brunch
The temperature outside is predicted to reach 51 degrees today, but you would never know it by the nonstop rain and the strong wind that has been keeping my windmill busy all morning. Today is John's Saturday per his work schedule, so we normally go out and order brunch at one of our many local... Sign in to see full entry.

Heading Out to Purchase an Aesthetically Pleasing Water Feature
I have always loved the sound of water tinkling. Whether it be from a creek, waterfall, or a yard feature...count me in. After watching Hometown on HGTV today, I learned about a rain chain...the downspout alternative. It helps deflect water from your roof and adds an aesthetically pleasing look to... A Pittsburgh Favorite That You Can Smell from Blocks Away
One of my favorite aromas is the smell of freshly baked bread, and Mancini's isn't lying when they claim that their bread makes butter taste better. It is a dream on their dinner rolls. I also love their pepperoni rolls, fresh Kaiser rolls, rye, and pumpernickel bread. Mancini's Bread Company has... Sign in to see full entry.

Snow, Icy Conditions, and a House Fire in My Small Borough
This morning in my area, Elizabeth Borough was a mess of rain and snow that started just before noon. By 12:30 it turned into a blustery snow shower that has since stopped. The roads are now clear, but the aftermath of the damages from a downtown house fire yesterday morning is still lingering in... Sign in to see full entry.

It's Been a Long Day, but A Pleasant One
Living near Pittsburgh I know that the day-to-day weather can flip on a dime, and the news continues to warn viewers that there is a snowstorm heading up the eastern seaboard this weekend. You would never know that a deep freeze is headed to my neck of the woods if today's sunny weather is any... Sign in to see full entry.
