Fat Cats!!!!!!!

We once rescued a nine year old black Persian kitty that we named Clancy. Clancy, bless his heart, literally looked as if he had swallowed a ten pound bowling ball whole. He was huge, not frame-wise, but girth-wise. After our laughter died down (yes, we laughed), we took him to our vet to see if... Sign in to see full entry.

The Black Cat

Some people are leery of black cats because of bad luck; others revere them as a token of good luck. I help run a rescue and we do not adopt out black cats between the months of August through November. We will not risk a kitty's life based on the color of his coat for whatever the reason- sacrifice... Sign in to see full entry.

My best friend and her cat

Let me tell you about my best friend and her connection with her eldest kitty, Mahogany. Maggie is a twelve-year-old seal point Himalayan baby Beth purchased from a breeder (well before we ever heard or started our own rescue) in Florida. This baby was six weeks old (too young really to be separated... Sign in to see full entry.

cats and computers

I have such joy married only marginal stress when it comes to dealing with cats and computers. I work in a rescue and for the most part, only a small portion of our cats care to entertain themselves with the computer and me whilst I am using it. Those that do, seem to only venture for the mouse.... Sign in to see full entry.

we're not crazy-- it's just a part of who we are!!

Rescuers have some pretty wild reputations. Crazy cat ladies come to mind anyone? Yes, I admit there are some wackos out there and there are even some who should not be rescuing in the first place, but come on---we're not all bad. Know an avid exerciser? Know an avid sports fan? Know an avid... Sign in to see full entry.

Please -- no more Fluffys

I am a co- director of a cat rescue and we have had so many cats come into our care that have been named Princess, Fluffy, Frisky etc. We have banned all such names from our home. We try to pick Celtic names with a meaning close to the cat. O r whatvere theme hits us at the time. After naming five... Sign in to see full entry.

Cats that exhibit dog like behaviors?

Yep, strange but true. My cat, Duncan, a fairly large cat does just that. He acts like he's my best friend. (Could be that he is.) When I come home he meets me at the door rubbing all over my leg. He will then follow me to my room as I put away my purse and shoes. Then Duncan waits on his hind legs,... Sign in to see full entry.

re-rescuing !!!

Several months ago we adopted out a beautiful and so very sweet calico persian to this lovely couple. They had completed through our application process (which is actually pretty comprehensive, more so than a standard rescue). We anticipated no problems from this couple; besides, it's in the... Tripod kitties

Once upon a time (this way you know the ending is happy!) we rescued a momma, Emi, and her two five week old girls, Jade and Kelly from an animal shelter. We had initially gone to the shelter to rescue a big blue Persian boy but as we were leaving we saw Emi cleaning her babies. We received... Sign in to see full entry.

Litterbox habits

Some of the things we have learned through trial and error are that cats are PICKY. (Betcha didn’t know that, eh? All us cat lovers have been keeping that a secret from the rest of the world.) Cats are notorious about their litter box preferences. Cats have accidents. Cats will alert you of changes... Sign in to see full entry.
