Juan De La Cruz and Holy Week
Filipino writers refer to the ordinary man of the streets as "Juan De La Cruz." The name is not based on the great John of the Cross, the Spanish mystical writer and friend of Theresa of Avila. On Monday we were able to take the 1:30 PM ferry from Mindoro to Batangas. Along the way we passed by a one of the islets that the fishermen of Mindoro inhabit. We took the Starlite Navigator from Caticlan to Mindoro. It was a five hour trip that was disappointing in a sense since we weren't able to see the dolphins. Mindoro is known for the Mangyans, Mt.
