I tried something different in karate class last night

I like to keep switching the exercises up for my karate class. We have a routine that we use quite a bit but every few classes, I like to throw something different out there. It does them good to try new things and it's good to throw some surprises at the muscles so they have to adapt. We run our... Sign in to see full entry.

I promised to do this last year and almost forgot

I had an idea last year for the bloggers here that were interested in sports. I know there were a few people that expressed interest so I went ahead and created a Fantasy Football League just for the writers of Blogit. There are ten teams in the league. If we get more interest than that, we can... Sign in to see full entry.

Gearing up for the county fair

The county fair is this week with a parade kicking things off on Wednesday. It usually goes fairly smooth. We get some fights, some auto burgs and every once in a while, some business burgs. I am going to be working swing shift every night of the fair this year. The hardest part about the fair is... Sign in to see full entry.

Speaking Success Warriors

My son, and really kids in general, are the ultimate Success Warriors. I watch him every day, trying to learn how to roll over. He tries so hard that he growls. He turns his head as far as he can so that it's just buried in the ground and moves his legs over but just can't get his shoulder to go... Sign in to see full entry.

Some of you may be wondering...

What's up with the name change? Simple, really. Words have power and I don't want to be solely identified with police work. There is so much more to me than that. I picked a name that had a broad connotation. I will go into it more later. Right now, I have to go to a groundfighting class. It should... Sign in to see full entry.

Time Really Flies

Trey is three months old now and is an absolute joy to have around. He has the happiest smile there is. He shows it to just about anyone and so far we've had about a dozen offers from people who would like to take him off our hands. I tell them all to take a number. Right now my wife is on Day shift... Sorry About The Absence

No excuses, I just haven't been to Blogit for a few days except for one brief stop where I read Wonk's blog asking why people came to Blogit. My answer is simple, to keep a journal, especially about the things that happened in my job. I ended up getting caught up in the blogging addiction and... Sign in to see full entry.

I Think I'm Creative But Real Life Is Still Better

Ninja and I did interviews today for a hiring roster. We keep a roster on hand in case we get an opening so that we can quickly replace the officer. We have so few officers that we would be hurting to start the process when someone quits because it takes about three months to test, interview,... Sign in to see full entry.

Class Today

I taught a handcuffing class today. It's the first time I have taught my handcuffing technique outside of my department. I wasn't sure how it would be recieved. One officer said that she wasn't comfortable with handcuffing when she showed up, which is why she showed up. She had never found any... Sign in to see full entry.

Laziness

More on my rant about cops getting out of shape. If the mind and body are connected, does physical laziness translate into mental laziness? If someone is eating donuts for break and never exercises, and I do mean never, are they more likely to cut corners when they are preparing a case for court.... Sign in to see full entry.
