It looks like my friend David and I should have persevered a bit longer in our quest to locate the long searched for, "West Pole." We had narrowed down our search to a narrow strip of wild land in Big Sur, California, and were making our preparations to launch the final leg of our two-man expedition, when David came down with a nearly fatal case of homesickness.
