How do petroleum refiners get more gallons of oil products out of a forty gallon barrel of oil, than the original forty gallons? Refiners produce gasoline, kerosene, solvents, lubricating oils, greases, waxes, chemicals, and who knows what else from crude oil, and I am told that the total of all these products is more gallons than they originally started with.
