They Held a Certain Spirit and Verisimilitude.

I noticed today, by the calendar that we have exactly five weeks of school left. Then we get nine weeks for summer break. This morning I considered getting a parttime job for the summer. But then I came to my senses. Five weeks! That's just the right amount of time for me to pull together a decent... Sign in to see full entry.

My Mothers' Day Blessing

On Mothers' Day this year I am doubly blessed. My mother has spent the best part of 2005 in the hospital recovering from a broken hip and subsequent surgeries. She is embattled but very much with us. Thank God! She is back home and learning to live independently again, with a little help. This woman... Sign in to see full entry.

That's Why State Leaders Get Paid the Big Bucks

Is George seconding guessing FDR? Of course he is. He sees the global picture in a retrospective to FDR's creating of the dominance of Eastern Europe by Stalin, the same as many here viewed the "mistakes" of Bush 41, who left Saddam in power after his attack against Kuwait. Bush is a global thinker.... Sign in to see full entry.

My Mondays are blending into Fridays! (No Mutants Here Though)

Wow, man, I cannot believe it has been three days since I posted here. My Mondays are blending into Fridays! I feel like the world is scouping me up and hustling me along three inches off the ground. As you may have read, we are beginning a composition contest. Some of the Newcomers have done real... Sign in to see full entry.

"Betcha By Golly Wow!" I really should get a life!

Well, it's the end of another beautiful weekend. Both of my teenage daughters are bathed and ready for bed, something accomplished only with the long-distance assistance of their mother. Why they will listen to her, and not live with her is still a mystery to me. I slept most of it. I was up late... Sign in to see full entry.

Sad, Weary Women, Their Men Bitter and Angry, All as Helpless as the Rest

I'm looking forward to the "War of the World's" movie. I guess Johnny Depp and Tom Cruise star in it. But until then, I will listen to the smooth vibes of Richard Burton narrating "Jeff Wayne's 'War of the Worlds'". Jeff Wayne is the son of the original producer of the Orson Wells' radio play. The... To the Great One, the Wham-Mistress.

In a short poem / blog that I wrote on Sunday afternoon, I included an oblique reference to the Great One, the Wham-Mistress. As I often do, because I am a moron, I was writing a poem to my mother and began to think about other women. When I do this I end up writing one poem but including my... Sign in to see full entry.

We Latinos Must Imagine a World of Beauty Without Violence.

Today we took forty-nine Latino students across town to hear a speaker talk about gangs. His name is Luis Rodriguez. The following are my notes from his speech: The speaker began by reading a poem that he wrote while in prison. He was locked up for attempted murder. His jail cell was between two... I need to go back to bed, but I'll just try and write something for my YHT blog. Yesterday (lasterday) I spent an hour reading my own blogs. Do any of you do this? Then last night I saw one of my favorite politicians on C-SPAN talking about being ahead of everybody in thinking about the future. I... Sign in to see full entry.
