Last night was face to face with the activities director and counselor of the high school. We had to sign off on schedules for the next year. I learned two things: 1. Jimmy Buffet says: "Without Geography, you're nowhere." 2. UNI is a very Pedestrian University -- pedestrian is not even a religion!... Sign in to see full entry.

Blogger mothers a sick child back to health................................

I actually had two excellent adventures today. If you were here and read about the little girl with oppositional-defiance and the father who was demanding immediate development of social language skills? Well, I kept telling that family that eventually the child would come out of her silent period.... Sign in to see full entry.

Back in 1998, Blogger promised to reduce class size to 17..................

Back in 1998, Tom said he would reduce Iowa's class size to 17. It never happened but it got him elected. That summer the liberals runnng the governor's office made an attempt at "Art in the Park". My friend James, the drummer, is always well-informed about Iowa Arts and took me down to Nolen Plaza... Sign in to see full entry.

Bloggers fight Bullying....................................................

This week our school is teaching students about bullying. We are defining the terms bully, victim and bystander. We are brainstorming ways in which we have been witness to bullying, ways we can combat bullying. We have a three-day curriculum, and the directors are serious about getting the message... Is this Blogger paranoid?..................................................

I read the Constant Gardener in about 2001 or -02. I remember feeling that the scenery, culture, language and plot were so John LeClarre. I soaked them up in a kind of comfort-food frenzy of feelings, outrages and images. The major theme, I suppose is man's inhumanity to man. Major motif:... Sign in to see full entry.

Blogger Survives Near-miss (Ms.).........................................

The doubtful prospects of finding true happiness on an internet dating sight becomes more and more doubtful. I have enjoyed three or four meet 'n' greets, kept up dialogues with several women, had to block several who were truly loony. I wonder what else there is in the world for a man with my flaws... Do bloggers risk their own futures by sleeping in?.........................

Well, to update you on my blogger-children. We went through a spell of staying home. It scared me and I let them know in no uncertain terms that I was not calling anyone in sick again all year. They each missed a couple of days. But, I said if you want to stay home you can get a detention (they hate... Sign in to see full entry.

I pointed past the group of bloggers and cried out: AVIRA KADAVIRA!

Back in Hogsmeade, sorely in need of a bottle of Pepto-bismol, Dumbledore and Harry see the mark of the dark lord over the crennelated turrets of the castle. It is a clown skull written in fire, marking the spot where a death has taken place. Having rushed to the scene expecting to find a death, the... Sign in to see full entry.

I cried out, "AVIRA KADAVIRA!" and one little girl jumped and shrieked!

I put my little darlings in a large group circle this morning at 7:40 A.M. I instructed them that I was about to read to them two scenes, two of my favorite scenes, from the last Harry Potter book, The Half-blood Prince. They were very happy because they are all dying to know what happens in it, but... Sign in to see full entry.

The Power of Love...Part 3.................................................

Now Harry Potter is a man. He is making his own decisions. His mother who died while saving his life, his father, and Sirius Black his foster father, and of course Dumbledore his father figure, all are gone. Harry Potter stands alone against the dark, as do we all in our middle years. He begins the... Sign in to see full entry.
