Can we have a scheme where readers can reward the quality of a post?

I'd like to propose a scheme called bonus-clicking, a once-only chance to reward the quality of each new blog entry. These are extra clicks which you would award on a bar such as this:

In effect, they would be extra 'votes' towards popularity, changing the nature of rankings entirely, making it proportionally representative.  

 

'Most Recent Bonuses' (total for last post, not new one) + 'Total Bonuses' could be listed on the 'Write' page.

 

I have been writing about this idea recently and it divides bloggers. Some support it, others think it would be open to corruption and change nothing.

 

If this suggestion is unworkable, I would like to see some way of rewarding quality in addition to the comments I might leave about a post's appeal.

 

I believe that if Blogit were to create a competitive environment for 'quality' - by which I mean 'posts that satisfy' - then we would attract more writers to the site and become a larger player in the blogging world.
