I'm a new blogger, and though I would like to know where I fair in my writing abilities, I agree with black cat. I have only been on blogit for a few days and have noticed an increase in my writing due to the fact that if i want good readership i must post everyday, but it's frustarting as well because i am a mother of two young children who thrive for my attention and a full time job, which keeps me at work till after dark, by the time i get on blogit I've worked a long day, spent time with my kids and am struggling to keep up at the same time.

I do not support this suggestion as a measure of Most Popular.  One reader should not be able to count as more than one vote towards a writer's ranking.  This system would be too easily abused and would cause further controversy and criticism among subscribers.  I believe that readers already reward a writer by returning to their blogs, time and again.  This is how they already get "bonus clicks"  and cast their vote for what they enjoy reading.

My counter suggestion is to change the current MPT into a "Most Popular This Week."  If the real goal is to achieve higher quality writing on Blogit, then we need to extend the shelf life of a post.  Under the current scheme, a blog will drop considerably if you do not post within a 12-24 hour period.  This short time frame creates undo pressure to write, and the quality of writing suffers for it.

Plus, most writers cannot keep up with this pace and become frustrated quickly.  I'd guess that you'd lose less subscribers if they didn't feel discouraged by how fast their blogs drop in rankings.  If nothing else, this could be a second ranking chart idea...

I welcome
such an idea It sure would let me know where I stand as a writer (or not) rather than my ability to chat.
