How much can you eat?

The wait-person brings your order in a wheelbarrow and a 55-gallon drum. That is just your serving, not the whole tables’. Some restaurants seem bent on increasing Americas already burgeoning waist lines at the cost of our well being. Don’t get me wrong, I like food as much as the next guy, as long... Low carbs gone wild!

It’s a craze phase these days. The headlong rush to eliminate carbbohydrates from the diet is invading store shelves everywhere, not to mention fast food chains, ice cream parlors and it is turning up in the most unbelievable places. Take for instance the new Pontiac Vibe. “What the….?” you wonder.... Sign in to see full entry.

Taxes.

It is my observation that most people would just as soon not pay any taxes. They could care less what the money buys. The overriding opinion is; the government wastes taxes and spends the tax money on things taxpayers don’t want. Very few people see taxes as a necessity, much less a “good” thing.... Where there’s garbage, there’s OIL.

“Turkey guts, old tires, used plastic bottles and municipal sewage.” According to an article in the 2004 July Discover Magazine, page 56-57 titled “Anything into Oil” that reality is closer than one might think. Actually, it has been delayed due to construction problems encountered building the... Sign in to see full entry.

Auto Review:

“Dad, my car just died.” That was the message on my machine Friday evening. This precipitated a trip to help my oldest son venture into the world of new car buying. He has never been very “into” his transportation. We had some indications the weekend before that the Corsica we gave him when he... Sign in to see full entry.

Gimmick.

We pay sales tax, memorial weekend only! I’ll bet you saw that come on many times. We did and ordered some furniture with the decision based partially on the anticipated savings. Well, due to color choice conflicts, we put the order on hold and looked at another dealer. Oddly enough, they weren’t... Sign in to see full entry.

Real Crime Drama…

The unmistakable thump of a traffic accident interrupted the pit area of the Radio Control Car race I was at last Saturday. A Mercedes was making a left turn from a busy 4-lane road (Sullivan) in the Spokane Valley when a car coming from the opposite direction ran the red light and hit the Mercedes... The Chase is on!

Urban dwellers mesmerized by the daily police chase. Most often when I turn on the news on television there is some kind of police chase going on. They seem to end the same way with the suspect in custody. With a preponderance of helicopters buzzing overhead, just exactly how does anyone suppose... Sign in to see full entry.

Give it up Alaska…our Hummers are thirsty!

“Cashin’ in” on the Fox New Channel featured a debate about whether drilling for oil in Alaska was the answer to our need to reduce our dependency on Arab oil. Many interesting points were made including the fact our refineries are operating at 90% efficiency and the new oil would have to await new... Sign in to see full entry.

On turning wrenches.

It started when I had my first car. I was in the Air Force in Anchorage Alaska and a friend and I went together on a 1959 Chev Bel Air. It was our passage to explore the general area and a means of entertainment. We had to work on it ourselves, of course since we were diesel mechanics it would have... Sign in to see full entry.
