Check out some of the interesting stuff on Cold Fusion research...
Some are trying to discredit the findings thus far, but it seems to be mostly out of fear than actual questionable research. The main scientist working on Cold Fusion was recently murdered in an "apparent" murder/burglary. MANY people are investigating the death, considering the possibility that he was "silenced" because he was days away from bring some huge discoveries public. I've been meaning to blog on the topic, but lately I've been too tired to post my late night posts. Maybe I'll force myself to stay awake long enough to post tonight...or not!!
I think the big solution is alternate fuel sources, and taking away many of the government imposed regulations that hinder our ability to develope such things. As you state oil sources are finite, only so many dinosaurs existed, and we've pretty much used up what there was to have. Besides, wouldn't it be a grand idea to take away our reliance on the Middle Eastern countries for our fuel needs...just a thought.

Hmmm
Intrigueing idea.
Use it so they can't hold it....
Hmm, wind power also intrigues me.
You say that wind isn't reliable, but, what if you mounted a wind turbine on the top of a car?!!
Ohhh!! The wind would constantly repower the battery in your car!!!
Patent pending!!! Don't steal it.

The oil companies...
don't want to see alternative energy sources developed, so they bribe Congress with campaign contributions to make sure they aren't.
