All Forms of Separation

I have had several reminders lately of a love affair long over. Events of late have brought back memories of he who wishes not to remember, and his last words saying I would never hear from him again. I have also subscribed to receive a daily message from the Universe. Today's message was just the reminder I needed, and it came at just the right time. Any and all forms of separation - disconnects, divides, partings, breakups, and goodbyes – Carole, are temporary. Very. You'll be together far,... Sign in to see full entry.

Argue? About God?

I have finished "eat pray love" by Elizabeth Gilbert. Now I am digesting and relishing what my eyes have just consumed. One of my favorite bites comes from Liz's 4-month visit to Bali to be with the old medicine man, Ketut. They are discussing her meditation practices. She has assured him she meditates twice a day, Indian one time, Balinese the other. Ketut responds: "Good. Don't forget your Yoga. Beneficial to you. Good for you to keep practice both ways of meditation -- Indiana and Balinese.... Sign in to see full entry.

The Change

I had read all of Leon Uris’s books in high school about the Holocaust atrocities and other biographical books about the Holocaust as well. I think I may have died in a camp during a former life as a teen-age girl. I was so hooked on the subject. I started teaching American History in 1975. By 1977, the same rumor came out that there were groups organizing (Young Nazis or Skinheads) claiming it was a Jewish propaganda ploy. It was the same year Congress set up a committee to investigate all the... Sign in to see full entry.

No Doubt

I dedicate this blog to the memory of Betty Berlen, who died last November 2007 of cardiac failure. I loved this little woman, Betty, who lived next door to my sister in Brookline, MA. She was like a surrogate mother to my sister for over 30 years. She became a best friend to our mother in her final years when she lived with my sister. I would visit my mother there every 2-3 months, my sister and I alternating in buying the tickets. I always brought a special gift for Betty. She would always... Sign in to see full entry.

God Dwells Within

"God dwells within you, as you. AS you." It is one point that my "mentee" just could not wrap his mind around, no matter how much I argued the point. I came across those two lines in the book I'm reading now, "eat, pray, love" and I was reminded of his stubbornness on this point. This is how Elizabeth Gilbert explained it and again, I was filled with the knowledge that somehow I already "knew" this, and was glad to read it explained in such understandable prose. Gilbert states: God dwells with... Sign in to see full entry.

Rituals

Have you been told, by someone other than your recalcitrant child, that you were hated? It could have been from an ex-husband, ex-lover, ex-boyfriend or ex- girlfriend, someone who used to love you or at least, like you? Did you feel irredeemable? Author, Elizabeth Gilbert, in her book "eat pray love," felt that way about her ex-husband. "I am still hated by him." It was something she felt would never change, never release her from its grips. A group of her Ashram friends were discussing... Sign in to see full entry.

My New Mantra

One of my cyber friends, a preacher's kid and a pastor himself, gave me a verse that replaces any gloomy thoughts. He can always tell when I'm thinking about one I should not anymore. (My human side sometimes wins out:) Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is love, whatever is admirable -- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy -- think about such things. The New Living translation is: And now, dear brothers and... Sign in to see full entry.

Love is First

Spirit vs Life "Life is just there, just is. We attach fear to the trials and tribulations of life and live afraid. Afraid of people, things. But fear is not real. It is where we let our mind go. Our mind goes there because Love is not there. Love is first. Love is our spirit. Our spirit soars when we have love and that love is given." ~ Author Unknown ~ I just read this and I found it just lovely. Could I just add a few thoughts? Love IS real. Love comes from God. Fear does not. Fear is a human... Sign in to see full entry.

We're All in The Dance

There is a song that's from the French movie, "Paris je t'aime," that Jay has attached to me. When he first watched the movie (I fell asleep half-way through, so have to watch it again!), he kept playing the last song in the movie over and over. It combines the French and English lyrics. He told me later that he played it over and over because it reminded him of me. So now I am attached to this song. I found the literal translation from the French version much more poetic and quite beautiful,... Sign in to see full entry.

we must become as little children

Although told in first person, this is a retelling of an old story, not my own.) We were the only family with children in the restaurant. I sat Erik in a high chair and noticed everyone was quietly sitting and talking. Suddenly, Erik squealed with glee and said, 'Hi.' He pounded his fat baby hands on the high chair tray. His eyes were crinkled in laughter and his mouth was bared in a toothless grin, as he wriggled and giggled with merriment. I looked around and saw the source of his merriment.... My cruel and sarcastic spew (cont.)

My last posting was about a reply I received from someone in another forum (not Blogit!). He had written about the morbidly obese traveling by plane. He obviously didn't like my first response, so I pulled it off the boards and rewrote it. And here it is... *******, in case you were alluding, not so discreetly, to MY brain stimulators in your previous response, I rewrote my piece. Although it's not PC, it may explain my sour-casm. WARNING: IF you have a disability or weigh enough to be charged... Sign in to see full entry.

My cruel and sarcastic spew

I jumped into the foray on another forum discussing the morbidly obese. Someone took exception to my reply so I rewrote or edited my posts to answer his question. It made me appreciate the nice compliment that I had received from Bhaskar regarding my posts and comments (that I was so nice to everyone!) I wrote two responses and hope I didn't upset him further! The first one is listed below. The lengthier one that started it all will be the next entry. His comment was: Wow, lots of thoughts... Sign in to see full entry.

Rainbows

My dear friend, who visited in August, wrote that she drove through the most magnificent rainbow following the mighty storms brought to Louisiana by Hurricane Humberto last week. I had made up a card about rainbows that contains the following scripture and poem: God put the rainbow in the sky... As a "token of the covenant which is between me and you and evey living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations. ~ Genesis 9:12 Rainbows appear after mighty storms, When things look their... The Road Less Traveled

I hardly ever choose the popular path, the well-trod and safe way. I want there to be mystery ahead, starlight, a promise of love, problems to solve. As Frost so simply states, taking the road less traveled has always made "all the difference." See poem: http://www.blogit.com/Blogs/Accounts/BlogSource.aspx?blog=LadyCeeMarie_journal Here is where I go off the beaten path. You can call me mental if you want. Mike, my once and only ex-lover, has been the only person to tell me so. However, he is no... Sign in to see full entry.
