Russia's Putin Putting Pressure On Bush and Israel

A war with Afghanistan brought about the downfall of Russia. Is it possible that Putin believes a war in the Middle East with a weaken USA in Iraq and an angry Israel will bring about a resurrection of World leadership for Russian once again?
