Human nature

The Old Man and the Birds He said nothing to the stranger-- an old man feeding birds. And though he really wanted to, He couldn't find the words. So he walked away in sorrow, and with a sense of shame; knowing that if nothing else he could of asked his name. But the old man was a stranger-- and... Sign in to see full entry.

Life

She Cried Herself to Sleep She cried herself to sleep last night For she was all alone-- Except the man beside her, Now a virtual unknown. But he was far too sound asleep To hear her softly weep-- Unaware that what he had, Was no more his to keep. So she cried into her pillow-- For it seems her love... Sign in to see full entry.

Irony

I Let My Hand Go Free I sat down to write a poem, but somehow it wrote me-- in the same way that an apple seed becomes an apple tree. So I put the quill to paper, and I let my hand go free-- deferring to the images and what they chose to be! Sign in to see full entry.

Youth

I Wonder Where? I wonder where I left it? Where did I see it last? That odd and most elusive thing... I think it's called, the past. And my youth, that time of innocence, It seems I've lost that too; I haven't seen it anywhere-- By any chance, have you? Sign in to see full entry.

So they say, but having lost, I don't recommend the fall. And yet I ask, what beauty--what mystery, or art, can manage to compare... Sign in to see full entry.

Life

Smile Have you ever seen a wheat field's skilful slow dance to a breeze, Or lost yourself while strolling through a grove of apple trees? Perhaps you spent an evening with a billion distant stars, not knowing--and not caring which was Venus, and which Mars. And maybe you discovered-- if only for... Sign in to see full entry.

Grief

Grief Life is about loss--and pain, And a pill brings us relief; Except in this, the losing-- For there's no assuaging grief! Sign in to see full entry.

Nature

Dandelions The dandelions in the meadow Appeared a bit like snow-- Which occupied that very ground Not so long ago. And though a weed, I was impressed That with a single blow-- Its seeds fell just like parachutes Deciding where to go. And so as spring grew shorter, The snow appeared more deep-- And... Love

I cannot Wait to Sleep Inspired by the dream of you, I cannot wait to sleep; Hoping I will quickly fall-- To someplace dark, and deep. And for your sake, delay the sun With platitudes, and praise; Seduce him with a touch, or kiss, That I may dream for days! Sign in to see full entry.

You Say You Are a Poet? So you say you are a poet? Then show me something grand. Help me see a daffodil-- or to feel a lover's hand. After all you are the poet-- the god of images, and words, so show me just one mountain, or a single flock of birds. Then I'll believe you have the gift-- the power to... Sign in to see full entry.
