I am a father. I am also a writer of poetry, and prose. I have taught English/Literature at the secondary and post-secondary level; however, at the end of the day, I'm a writer. I just completed my first manuscript entitled, "A Tapestry of Dreams," and I'm waiting to see if it will be published. Either way, writing poetry--as you probably know--is cathartic and fulfilling in its own right, so I'll continue composing, regardless...provided the Muse is kind enough to speak to me! Odd as it may sound, Emily Dickinson is a distant relative of mine, and I think of her often. It was during one of those moments of recollection that I composed "Dear Emily." And it vexes me to read so much about her reclusion, and so little about her passion for life. I understand that the two seem mutually exclusive, but not in Emily's case. She saw more of the world from her home and garden, than most so-called world-travelers. The more I read of her, the better I understand her. I cannot write as she did, but neither should I aspire to, for it is the responsibility of all serious writers to find their own, unique voice, and somehow improve the world by it. That is my calling; that is my quest. Good luck to you in yours...
