A Long Cold Wait

It was a good run north to Alaska...until.... They were almost to the Bering Straight and the Aleutian Islands, the entrance to the Bering Sea, an area where the Russian (and Soviet) submarines frequented, when the weather turned nasty and the ice storm began.
