Do class and caste determine collections?

Some collections require huge spaces and limit who can indulge in them. Don't they? For example if someone were collecting vintage cars, or household items used in yonder years, or paintings, or artefacts of an age. Sometimes I wonder whether there isn't a class bias in collection-making?

If one wants to collect stamps or coins on a particular theme, then one has to invest in the same or have the goodwill of that many that can spare something to augment or add to one's collection. Last year at the World Social Forum which i attended, I came across a group
