Do people still collect match-box covers like I do?

There was a time when I collected matchbox covers in right earnest. And enjoyed every bit of it. There were covers which had a picture of a ship on it, others which had a key on them, still others with a bird pic. - a variety indeed! With electronic media and electronic items coming in, this kind of... Sign in to see full entry.

Collecting protest and progressive songs

Yes, that is what I want to do. The last time I wrote and asked about songs on peace and harmony I got a poor response. This means that there is much to be done in this arena in terms of putting progressive songs together. And I want to do just that. Suggestions, reference links, anyone? Sign in to see full entry.

I'm trying to collect songs from different parts of the world

I'm trying to collect songs from different parts of the world on the theme of peace and harmony. Do you know of any such songs and do you have the lyrics of them that you can share with me? Sign in to see full entry.

democracy, dictatorship, theocracy? Are there any stamps about coups? Or do nations want to erase thse histories... So it doesn't become a choice for the theme of postage stamps? Or coins for that matter? Just wondering... Sign in to see full entry.

Somtimes people view what you do as a collection.

A friend, for instance, loves taking photographs of any new place that he goes to or any different but interesting picture that he can get. He doesn't have to hesitate because he has a digital camera. As adults, we'd say, photography is his passion. But his daughter calls him a "photo-collector"! Sign in to see full entry.

There is such beauty in some of the collections that I come across. But strangely, the collection doesn't seem to have much appreciation in the land in which the material for the collection is available. Is it because it is all too familiar? For instance a collection of shell-work doesn't seem to... Sign in to see full entry.

Collecting travel advisories issued by the Brits. revealing!

A friend of mine is collecting travel advisories issued by the Brits. She says it's very revealing about the politics of tourism and in fact about world politics if one analyses the advisories. Sign in to see full entry.

Just who are the stamps honouring?

Thematic collections or collections that are organised to be able to understand a particular history have always drawn my attention. Sometimes for instance in stamps, just which persons a country decides to honour through its stamps can say a lot. Sign in to see full entry.

Guess what? I came across a man collecting finger-nails.

I don't know how long his collection/obssession will last. I'm amazed at what people can collect. This man insists that finger-nails can speak for the person. I've heard of calligraphy. But is there something called fingernailography. Any answers anyone? Sign in to see full entry.
