Mary Oliver - Why I Wake Up Early

I would like to write a poem about the world that has in it nothing fancy. But it seems impossible. Whatever happens, the morning sun glimmers it. The tulip feels the heat and flaps it's petals open and becomes a star. The ants bore into the peony bud and there is the dark pinpoint prick of sweetness. As for the stones on the beach, forget it. Each one could be set in gold. So I tried with my eyes shut but of course the birds were singing. And the aspen trees were shaking the sweetest music out... Sign in to see full entry.

Hafiz - The Theater Of Freedom

The Theater Of Freedom In my divine studio What I have been working on is this: Painting the Truth, Revealing A more realistic picture of God, Tearing down the cruel walls That separate you From the tenderness Of fire. Someone must be withholding The crucial lines In all those stories you have heard of our Friend, For there is still too much fear And pallor upon your cheeks, And I rarely see you In the marvelous Theater of Freedom. Hafiz knows You could not describe him Even if we sat side by... Sign in to see full entry.

Attention

Pay attention! Be aware! Each moment, varying in length presents its own miracle to those with eyes to see. Give your awareness freely to each, unfolding moment. Remind yourself, "This too shall pass!" Clutch nothing; Float gently in the deep middle of flowing moment's stream. This is the way that leads home\ with the most joy and Life! ©2011, Shamsujim Sign in to see full entry.

Daniel Abdal-Hayy Moore - A single breath

A single stone is thrown in and the canyon resounds with the hallelujahs of angels A single breath contains the known and unknown universes Back behind edgeless space are motions that vibrate the heart Back behind ancient mountains and historical intricacies a shadow gives way to Light that has a door in it to let us through We take no step that doesn’t bring us nearer One sip and the oceans disappear One glance and the skies bend closer to hear our emptiness One heart-wrench elegant elevation... Rumi - Every Breath

IN EVERY BREATH if you're the center of your own desires you'll lose the grace of your beloved but if in every breath you blow away your self claim the ecstasy of love will soon arrive in every breath if you're the center of your own thoughts the sadness of autumn will fall on you but if in every breath you strip naked just like a winter the joy of spring will grow from within all your impatience comes from the push for gain of patience let go of the effort and peace will arrive all your... Lao Tzu - The Unseen

What we look for beyond seeing And call the unseen, Listen for beyond hearing And call the unheard, Grasp for beyond reaching And call the withheld, Merge beyond understanding In a oneness Which does not merely rise and give light, Does not merely set and leave darkness, But forever send forth a succession of living things as mysterious As the begotten existence to which they return That is why people have called them empty phenomena, Meaningless images, In a mirage With no face to meet, No back... Hafiz - A Divine Invitation

A Divine Invitation You have been invited to meet The Friend No one can refuse a Divine Invitation. That narrows all of our choices To just two: We can come to God Dressed for dancing, Or Be carried on a stretcher To God's ward. Mary Oliver- The Summer Day

The Summer Day Who made the world? Who made the swan, and the black bear? Who made the grasshopper? This grasshopper, I mean-- the one who has flung herself out of the grass, the one who is eating sugar out of my hand, who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down-- who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes. Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face. Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away. I don't know exactly what a prayer is. I do... Sign in to see full entry.

Lao Tzu Beyond Words

Existence is beyond the power of words To define: Terms may be used But are none of them absolute. In the beginning of heaven and earth there were no words, Words came out of the womb of matter; And whether a man dispassionately Sees to the core of life Or passionately Sees the surface, The core and the surface Are essentially the same, Words making them seem different Only to express appearance. If name be needed, wonder names them both: From wonder into wonder Existence opens. The Way of Life... Sign in to see full entry.
