Mirabai: I'd Call That

I'D CALL THAT Before I fell asleep last night I laid awake and wondered: What did I achieve this day just roaming around calling His name? So I brought before my mind's eye all who I had been kind to, and it turned out to be all things that I had seen. I'd call that -- one hell of a productive day! Mirabai (The most renowned woman poet-saint of India Her songs are sung by Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs alike.) Love Poems from God Twelve Sacred Voices from the East and West Translated by Daniel... St. Teresa of Avila: As I found the Source

As I found the Source When your soul was born, it was like a still ocean that had yet to experience its infinite love. God then came to the shores of our souls and gazed upon the immaculate splendor that His divine heart created. He then took off His clothes and dove into us. Nothing on their own have your arms ever done, the movements of your feet are caused by the waves He stirred. Light baptizes life wherever it falls, and every religion and all upon this earth is a shadow. A shadow may move... Sign in to see full entry.

Rumi - My Dear Friend

MY DEAR FRIEND never lose hope when the beloved sends you away if you're abandoned if you're left hopeless tomorrow for sure you'll be called again if the door is shut right in your face keep waiting with patience don't leave right away seeing your patience your love will soon summon you with grace raise you like a champion and if all the roads end up in dead ends you'll be shown the secret paths no one will comprehend the beloved i know will give with no qualms to a puny ant the kingdom of... Hafiz - I Know The Way You Can Get

I Know The Way You Can Get I know the way you can get When you have not had a drink of Love: Your face hardens, Your sweet muscles cramp. Children become concerned About a strange look that appears in your eyes Which even begins to worry your own mirror And nose. Squirrels and birds sense your sadness And call an important conference in a tall tree. They decide which secret code to chant To help your mind and soul. Even angels fear that brand of madness That arrays itself against the world And... Sign in to see full entry.

Hafiz - Forgive the Dream

FORGIVE THE DREAM All your images of winter I see against your sky. I understand the wounds That have not healed in you. They exist Because God and love Have yet to become real enough To allow you to forgive The dream. You still listen to an old alley song That brings your body pain; Now chain your ears To His pacing drum and flute. Fix your eyes upon The magnificent arch of His brow That supports And allows this universe to expand. Your hands, feet, and heart are wise And want to know the... Sign in to see full entry.

Welcome

Welcome One and All, Please post in comments how you found us. Do you have a favorite Rumi poem? Let us know. Here is a good one to wet your appitite: Who Says Words With My Mouth? All day I think about it, Then at night I say it. Where did I come from, and What am I supposed to be doing? I have no idea. My soul is from elsewhere, I'm sure of that, And I intend to end up there. This drunkenness began in some other tavern. When I get back around to that place, I'll be completely sober. Meanwhile,... Sign in to see full entry.
