a few things to report

OK, my friends, there's a few things to report. First of all, after a couple of days in the new job, I can say that it's looking good. I spent today learning some simplified sign language to use with non-verbal clients. I have the feeling that it will be a job that utilizes my best capacity to make... Sign in to see full entry.

the end of a break

I massaged three people last night. The last time I did that many massages in a row was when I was clocking up my clinical hours, one hot summer, when I was studying for the certificate at college. It felt good using my skills again and it means I've accumulated enough credits to "buy" a Sri Lankan... Sign in to see full entry.

brilliant news

Brilliant news to hand. The mighty Hawthorn Football Club has made it into the Grand Final for the first time since 1991. Hoo-bloody-ray! I know you're all excited, hooking up satellite dishes and the like so you can share in the spectacle of the game. A lot of water's passed under the bridge since... Sign in to see full entry.

what a great depression

In Australia we have compulsory superannuation (forced personal savings for retirement) and I sudden had a panic attack that all that money could be down the drain with this crazy financial collapse that's happening. Anyway after a quick online check all seems relatively OK but I'd personally rather... Sign in to see full entry.

it all went downhill after the icecream

So here's the thing. I walked the beach this morning, letting the ocean splash up my legs in a carefree manner while pondering employment choices. I was whistful and meditative and I'm sure some voice from somewhere told me that I could take either job and it would be OK. I'd just finished rereading... Sign in to see full entry.

does anyone ever blog naked?

This weekend brought a foretaste of summer. The pale English backpackers processed down to the beach to get roasted. Americans also wandered around the beach sounding like they were auditioning for a sitcom of some variety. Storm clouds came, poured out water and then the heat came and the humidity.... jazzing up the day

Another day, another dollar, well another job interview. On goes the suit and tie and the tap dancing shoes and the jazz ensemble (I always take a few jazz musos to get the vibe right when I'm presenting myself at interview). Again the job's working with the intellectually disabled but at a place... Sign in to see full entry.

community trading

Last night I rejoined a local LETS community trading system. The basic idea is establishing a community where people trade goods and services without using money. It uses a system of credits and debits so, for example, I might post an offer to provide a one hour massage at a charge of 20 credits and... Sign in to see full entry.

working on the radicality and creativity

I've found I write better when I'm down by the ocean side where the waves collide with the rocks. Nature, sunshine and caffeine are a brilliant combination. Location definitely seems to be significant for me when it comes to creative processes or, at least, for getting the creative ball rolling. It... Sign in to see full entry.
