It's Not Enough

It's Not Enough It's not enough to stand on the bank And say okay Lord let the waters part I need to step into the water and believe And trust Him with all of my heart It's not enough to believe He is a healer But I must believe that He will do it for me It's not enough to have faith in the sunshine But I must have it when it's so dark I can't see It's not enough to believe He died on the cross But I must believe that He died there for me It's not enough to believe the stone was rolled away But... A Hidden Treasure(terza rima sonnet)

A Hidden Treasure (terza rima sonnet) I recall a lady in the nursing home Hard to imagine she had no arms or legs She painted on canvas with oil all alone I never once seen her without that bright smile Between her teeth with much skill she held the brush She helped me know I can go another mile Whenever she spoke the whole room became hushed I went to bless, but it was me that got blessed My time I spent with her would never be rushed Now her life is over, surely she's found rest She was one of... A Silhouette

A Silhouette (echo sonnet) A silhouette still sits by the window Her mind's far away in a distant land Most do not stop to even touch her hand Footsteps in the hall, are not ones she knows All is quiet except for the echoes With her lips she lonesomely hums a song To this place she does not want to belong Footsteps in the hall, are not ones she knows Her eyes are empty, no emotion shows She exists in this place they call a home Except for her Father she is alone Footsteps in the hall, are not... Sidewalk Chalk

Sidewalk Chalk A little girl is joyfully playing She's drawing with chalk on the sidewalk I'm not sure just what she is drawing Her imagination is growing Her patter is fascinating talk Just two she has a story to tell And a captive audience you know A story she seems to know very well I will stop and listen for a spell It's clear she doesn't want me to go Her story makes this old man happy She draws me in with each chalk mark Back and forth as busy as a bee To say the least I am very pleased... Clouds

Clouds At the top of the mountain Where the green touches the blue Soft white clouds are floating I wonder where to I wonder if they even noticed That they blessed me today Are they making room for the sunshine Or are they carrying the rain Either way I will make them welcome I will make them feel right at home For I know that their message Is not for me alone I wonder if on down the line Some poet might stand and say Are you making room for the sunshine Or are you carrying the rain Either way... My Mom Happy Mother's Day

I had a wonderful Mother, she has now been in heaven 8 years as we count them, she was wonderful in every way, so loving, so kind, she taught me how to live, with all her sweetness and toughness, she was also very funny, all she had to do was roll them eyes a certain way and she would crack me up, one of my favorite stories to tell is one night when she was in her late eighties she became very sick and I had to take her to the emergency room, as usual we had been there for hours, in her later... A Child

A Child (terza rima sonnet) There's such a joy in watching a child at play Oh the memories of a day that has past To see the sweetness of a smile on their face Oh, that these times could only remain and last How long has it been since I thought as a child When did I decide to put on this old mask? Would be great to go back in time for awhile To regain all that wonder and all that faith To bring back what time took away and smile Oh, but I can not complain, thank God for grace Let me humble... Help Me Find Them

Help Me Find Them I ponder all the long night through, what to say But all of a sudden, words are of no use The enemy, has hunted them down like prey I guess I am just tired, that is my excuse How can I only let them hear, my silence Will the coming dawn, turn my captive tongue loose Where do nouns and verbs go, during their absence Are they in some far away land, relaxing What's wrong with them, do they not have a conscience I am left to worry, and my aching hands to wring Knowing that soon,... Gone But Still Here (terza rima sonnet)

Gone But Still Here Her feet no longer trod, the road before me The road she travelled on, was straight and narrow Where she was at, was where I wanted to be When her hands touched anything, it had to grow There was something magical, she touched my soul She stayed strong, even when angry winds did blow To have a good name, she said was her main goal Good and lovely words were all I ever heard Not once did she ever let her heart turn cold Everyone she met would receive a kind word It was years... Signs Of Spring (terzanelle)

Signs of Spring (terzanelle) The first jonquil have appeared Nature's Paul Revere so brave Soon at dark the frogs we'll hear They've reappeared from their grave Louder and louder the birds will sing Nature's Paul Revere so brave On the playground childrens laughter rings The robin red breast is a tell-tale sign Louder and louder the birds will sing In the pasture green grass you'll start to find Something so special is finally here The robin red breast is a tell-tale sign In our hearts is a...
