Solution to my last post...

A friend sent me a wonderful email regarding our government's desire to rid our nation of God and faith. I think it shoud be applied to Hollywood as well. It basically goes like this: Since we can't pray to God, can't Trust in God and cannot post His Commandments in Government buildings, I don't believe the Government and its employees should participate in the Easter and Christmas celebrations which honor the God that our government is eliminating from many facets of American life. I'd like my... Sign in to see full entry.

CBS and Charlie Sheen Mocks Christmas and Christianity...

If you haven't heard about it yet, Charlie Sheen made a mockery of the Christmas song, Joy to the World on CBS's "Two and a Half Men." Personally, I stopped watching the show when it became apparent that CBS had turned what was a really cute sitcom into a perverted sitcom about sex. This time they turned "Joy to the World" into a song about getting laid. It's extremely offensive to anyone who calls themself a Christian - or it should be. And, that's not the only show that seems to be trying to... Sign in to see full entry.

Blanche and I agree?

Yes, for once, Blanche and I are on the same page about something. Ordinarily, I wouldn't address this topic but I truly find the trend very disturbing. In the last 20 plus years, it has become increasingly popular for men to want to see women with their pubic area shaved. I find that really strange since these are grown men and they supposedly want grown women but they want them to look like little girls. That's scary. As Blanche mentioned, is the next step going to be sex with a child? What I... Sign in to see full entry.

Pushy Relatives!

How many of us have them? I certainly do. As most of you have read here in my blog, I've been out of work for about 3 months and struggling to find a job. I've had to depend on my family a lot for help and I'm very grateful for that help. However, now they are trying to pressure me into moving back to Texas where they are if I want their help. NO WAY!!! I left Texas almost 23 years ago to get away from manipulative behavior and I refuse to go back there. There's a lot more to it but I have no... Sign in to see full entry.

Open your hearts this Christmas...

I know that you guys are used to me being controversial, but I don't feel particularly controversial at this time of year. Too many people are in need and my heart is too focused on the fact that many people out there will go hungry this Christmas. Presents are the last thing on their minds. They would be overjoyed just to have food to eat. Reach out to someone who is struggling financially and buy food or just give a card if you aren't able to buy anything. Even if you are struggling, there is... Sign in to see full entry.

A Little Humor

I've been designing items for my shop today and I'm having to come up with captions to go with artwork. I came up with one for a picture of my sister's dog that cracked me up and I thought you guys would appreciate it. The picture is of the dog looking over her shoulder and the caption reads: Don't look at me... I didn't make that awful smell! Hopefully, it will meet with a good response in the form of sales. I'm still trying to come up with good captions for expectant mother shirts and baby... Sign in to see full entry.

65 Years Ago Today...

All was quiet. America slept with a calm assurance that this day would be the same or similar to all the others before it. Yet, as they slept, a fleet of planes from the other side of the world with an evil agenda in mind were about to change the world in a way that no one could have imagined. Not only did they wipe out almost the entire U.S. Naval fleet but they woke what would later be called "A Sleeping Giant" that, in turn would set in motion efforts that resulted in the Atomic Bomb and the... BUYERS BEWARE!

If any of you plan to buy Visa Gift Cards for the holidays, I have a warning for you so that you don't have the same problem I've had. I bought a Visa Gift Card from U.S. Bank in order to pay some bills. I've done it a couple of times before and the only reason I bought it from them again was because I didn't know I had a choice since I found them through Visa. (Addendum: Any gift cards serviced through Wild Card, Inc. will be the problem. Evidently, they are hooked up with a number of banks so... Sign in to see full entry.

Taking Christmas out of Christmas?

I'm appalled at the fact that so many companies are choosing to take Christmas out of Christmas. The reason we celebrate December 25th is because of the birth of Jesus. I realize that the Jewish community also have a celebration at this time of year and so do others and I have no problem with companies using "Happy Holidays" in addition to "Christmas" in their ads. I can understand that companies don't want to offend people but I find it extremely offensive that they are trying to eradicate... Sign in to see full entry.

Overcome Being Overwhelmed This Christmas

Christmas is a season of expectation for all of us in some way, shape or form. Whether it's expectations others have of us, we have of ourselves or others, the season itself or circumstances, they exist for all of us. The questions is, how do we get through the season without expectations ruining what should be a time of joy and peace? Joy and peace? Ha! I just want to get out with my sanity! That's what most of you are thinking, right? Well, I have a few ideas that may help you to avoid being... Sign in to see full entry.

I'm praying for you guys...

I hope that is an encouragement to some of you...or all of you. I just thought you might want to know that someone prays for you every day. Pure and simple. Sign in to see full entry.

The sad thing is...

Stats can be run to say pretty much whatever you want them to say and no one really knows the reality of the situation. One side can work stats so that they back up their position and someone else can run a whole different set of numbers to back up their side. I aced statistics in college and loved them but I know from experience that whoever is entering the numbers enters them with the anticipation of how the results will come out. We will never know the true stats on illegal immigrants but if... Sign in to see full entry.

Please, no profanity...

I don't mind anyone posting comments to my blog, but I do ask that you refrain from profanity and using the Lord's name in vain. There is no reason or excuse for it. As far as I'm concerned, anyone who feels the need to use profanity isn't too bright. There are plenty of words in the English language to express one's self and since most of us here are supposedly writers of sorts, we should definitely be able to find other ways to express ourselves. If you want to use foul language in your own... Sign in to see full entry.

Professor Peabody...

had a point about the stats. Either the place I got them misquoted them or they were just off. However, my point wasn't so much the numbers as it was the fact that the media is quick to deal with lawbreaking drivers but seem to overlook the fact that the illegal immigrants are doing so by just being here. And, in turn, they break other laws that go on without consequence. The biggest problem with this is that they are teaching their children that it's okay to break the law and they are raising a... Why are you breaking the law?

This is the question the media is asking of drivers caught driving without a license because their licenses have been taken away. My question is why does the media care? They don't seem to care that illegal immigrants are breaking the law. And, they don't mind that a study recently proved that illegals murder 12 people every day, which is 9,800 people killed every year by illegal immigrants. According to World Net Daily's Joseph Farah, that's more people killed than in the Iraq and Afghanistan... Sign in to see full entry.

I'm glad to know...

I'm not the only one who believes in old fashioned discipline and manners. I don't believe in using a belt on a child like my father did on me but I certainly believe in discipline and I don't believe in giving the responsibility of raising children to teachers and nannies, etc. I realize that in this day and age when both parents in most homes have to work to support a household that they can't always be at home but that doesn't mean rules can't be set. Of course, I also think that in many... Sign in to see full entry.

What happened to manners?

This afternoon, I was almost trampled to the ground by a bunch of kids getting the bus home. I was in front of them and they started pushing and shoving with all of their weight until I screamed "Stop pushing or I'll call the cops!" They shoved my hand into the door and they crammed into the bus so tightly that when I needed to pull the wire to signal the driver to stop, I banged my ear on a bar on the back of the seat. This isn't the first time I've experienced this in this neighborhood. For... Sign in to see full entry.

Catching the Christmas bug...

Okay, I'm getting there. Of course, designing Christmas cards and items for my shop hasn't hurt any. Usually, I get excited as soon as Thanksgiving is over but it's taken me a few days to get into things. No, I haven't put up a Christmas tree, yet. But I do plan to watch "A Charlie Brown Christmas" tonight. The tape, though, so I don't have to watch commercials. I don't have the DVD of it yet. Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I love the decorations and the smells and the atmosphere and... Sign in to see full entry.

Sheep Flipping?

I just had to share something funny I just read. I subscribe to the Chicken Soup for the Soul newsletter, which are stories in their books. I don't always read them because of time constraints but this one caught my eye. The story is about three travel writers from the U.S. who go to England for a business trip. While they are touring the English countryside, their guide informs them that if they see a sheep laying on its back with its feet in the air, the sheep is actually alive and they will... Are you one step away from being homeless?

You may not think so but if you lost your job today, you could be 90 days away from being homeless. I think it's amazing that so many people in this country don't want to think about this but it is a reality and if you ignore it, it could happen to you. It doesn't just happen to people who aren't willing to work. It happens to hard working people every day. Are you going to hide under the covers and pretend that it can't happen to you? Wouldn't it be better to be aware and be prepared? There are... Sign in to see full entry.
