A $250,000,000 Soccer Player?

Okay, has everyone gone nuts or what? Why on earth would someone pay a soccer player that much money. I know that it's over a five year period but let's get real! It really sets a bad example to children who watch these players and see how much they are making just to play a stupid game. Don't get me wrong, I love football and thoroughly enjoy the Dallas Cowboys and realize that they make a lot of money as well, but it's still a game. And, please know that I understand it's also big business.... Sign in to see full entry.

The Senate Is violating our Civil Rights...

Right now, the Senate is on the verge of passing Senate Bill 1 (Section 220) which prevents all pro-family and certain other organizations from providing the citizens of this nation with information on bills in Congress. That is a violation of our civil rights! This country was formed so that the people would govern the country and we cannot make informed decisions and vote affectively if we don't have information on what's happening in Congress. I want to urge all of you to contact your... Sign in to see full entry.

Rosie v. Donald?

I'm sure you've all heard of the silly spat that's going on between Rosie O'Donnell and Donald Trump. I find it so absurd that two grown people would lower themselves to public name calling, etc. What is really ridiculous is Rosie accusing Trump of being immoral when she's just as immoral. Of course, she doesn't see it that way, but God does. I also find it pretty silly that she and so many people have gotten offended because Trump called her fat. The reality is that she is fat. Pretending that... Sign in to see full entry.

I don't believe abortion is the answer...

even if a woman has been raped. I was molested many years ago and, though it didn't culminate in intercourse because I was able to get away first, it was still quite traumatic and I know that anyone who has endured rape has every good reason to want to put it behind them. The problem is that once a child is conceived, even by something as horrible as rape, the child isn't to blame for what resulted in their creation. I think the child is God's way of healing those wounds if the woman seeks God... Sign in to see full entry.

One more comment...

When I said that saying you are Pro-Choice but not Pro-Abortion is like saying you are sort of a virgin is that the results are the same. You are giving a woman permission to murder regardless of what you call it. And, if you don't think abortion is murder, I suggest you watch a video of an abortion and listen to the squeals of a child being murdered and then you tell me that it's not murder or that it's not a child. It's a cop out and an excuse to be selfish and irresponsible. Sign in to see full entry.

Isn't Pro-Choice the same as Pro-Abortion?

I posted a comment on another site today explaining why I couldn't sign a petition regarding a man who is in favor of banning birth control. While I am definitely against abortion, I am very much in favor of birth control. The petition, though, was created by a Pro-Abortion organization and I cannot be a party to that. However, the point of this entry is that someone responded to my comment saying that she is Pro-Choice not Pro-Abortion. I disagree. That's like saying you're sort of a virgin.... Ringing in the New Year?

I don't know what you guys did last night but I stayed home (my preference) and spent the last few minutes of 2006 watching the ball drop on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve show and then spent the next 30 minutes listening to the fireworks outside while I spent some quality time with God. Since I don't drink and I'm not much of a party person, I'm not into going out and being around a bunch of drunken fools who probably won't even remember what they did because of all of the alcohol they... The End of An Era

It's funny, but when I heard that Sadam Hussein's execution was imminent a couple of days ago, I felt sorry for him. Not that his actions didn't deserve execution but because I wonder what his life might have been had he chosen a different path. Witnesses at the execution said that Sadam looked scared right before he was hanged. I can understand that because he obviously had not made peace with his maker at that point. However, since I prayed for him over the past couple of days, I still hope... Sign in to see full entry.

Disturbing Conversation

This afternoon I had a neighbor come to my door about a process service I did for her on her daughter's boyfriend a couple of weeks ago. After telling me that she's going to court tomorrow about the restraining order, she started telling me that the man has been molesting the baby. Now, most people just state their concerns but this woman started not only telling me what she supposedly saw him doing but was using her hand to brush up her vaginal area and her breasts and then reached over and... Now, About Clinton...

Solowriter compared what happened with Nixon to what happened with Clinton, which isn't a bad idea because it shows how morality has taken a nose dive in this nation and how people don't seem to know the difference between right and wrong and a lie and the truth. People were outraged when they found out that Nixon had authorized the cover up of Watergate, which was definitely wrong for him to do as was what the Nixon re-election committee did by bugging the offices. And, Nixon lied about that... Sign in to see full entry.

The truth about Ford and Nixon...

After writing the piece on the passing of President Ford the other day, it seems that some people don't really know much about the events that lead to President Ford's presidency. I did a little research yesterday to double check my facts because it's been a long time. I had a little help from the current media stories but since I believe that history is very important in our lives because it helps us to keep from making similar errors in the future if we pay attention, I feel the need to... An Intriguing Story

Taking a brief break from the conversation regarding Ford and Nixon, etc., I watched the movie, "All the King's Men," this evening. It's a very intense film and since I really thought it was a political thriller when I rented it and had no idea of its basis, I was very surprised to catch myself thinking that this sounded a lot like the Huey P. Long story. It turns out that this was based on a novel that was based on Huey Long's life. The reason that has so much significance to me is because I... Sign in to see full entry.

BUYERS BEWARE! #2

I want to warn all of you about a company that has a great service but the way they do business is not so great. I'm talking about The Names Database. I'm sure you've seen their ads as well as their sister company's ads (Classmates.com) and may have subscribed to their services. The problem I've found with them is that cancelling your subscription is a challenge. Especially if you don't realize the expiration is coming up. My subscription was originally a gift and my card information was only on... Sign in to see full entry.

The Passing of a President...

It seems like only yesterday that we had six or seven living Presidents standing together for cameras and now we have lost another of our nation's leaders. I guess this one is a bit more personal for me as was the passing of President Nixon because I had actually met both President Nixon and President Ford in private situations many years ago. In fact, my family ran into the Fords on several occasions over the years since we spent a lot of time in Colorado both in Vail and at a place called... Sign in to see full entry.

A Lie Unveiled...

Liberals talk about how much they care about others and how much people should volunteer their time and do for others. Well, there's a new book out by Arthur Brooks called "Who Really Cares?" that has researched who really gives most of their money and their time. It turns out that as much as the Leftwingers talk about how much they care about others, the environment, etc., they give less of their money and time to the causes they supposedly feel so strongly about. Conservatives actually give... Sign in to see full entry.

What a farce!

Last night, CBS aired a program about the story of Christmas. At the beginning of the program, the woman who hosted the program said they would be doing the program respetfully. The only respect they had was for the people who agreed with their position. The only investigating they did was interview people who set out to disprove the Christmas story of the Bible. I finally got so annoyed that I changed the channel. What always amazes me is the fact that people try to analyze the Bible with their... Sign in to see full entry.

mneme makes a good point...

When I discovered Blog It, I saw it as a place for writers and those who like to read what we write. I also saw it as a potential for getting noticed by someone who might want to publish my work. Publishers don't tend to want to read material with dozens of spelling and grammar errors. I know this from being a writer and since I'm working on getting my own publishing company off the ground, I know that I'm not going to take someone seriously as a writer if they don't have enough respect for... How outrageous is this?

I just read WriterofLight's post about the people being charged with hiring illegals to build the fence to keep illegals out. Does anyone else see how ludicrous this is? And, ironic? I can't believe that these idiots are hiring the very people we are trying to keep out! How stupid can you be? I shouldn't be surprised but it's laughable! How absolutely ridiculous! I hope they send the jerks to jail and charge them for every penny they paid the illegals they hired! Actually, I hope they charge... Sign in to see full entry.

Am I being too hard?

I don't think so. Professor Peabody criticized me for asking you guys to use the spell check when you write your posts. I really don't think that's a lot to ask and it makes a world of difference to the reader. Prof. Peabody says that we shouldn't be concerned about things like spelling and grammar on a blog because it's supposed to be a relaxed form of writing. Well, I'm of the opinion that any time you are writing for others to read, it's just common courtesy to be considerate of your readers.... Sign in to see full entry.

Fellow Bloggers...

If spelling doesn't come naturally to you, please have the courtesy to run your blogs and comments through a spell check before putting them on here. It is really hard to get through some of the postings on here with multitudes of misspelled words and poor grammar. I am far from perfect and I've made mistakes, too. In fact, Blanche caught one of my misspellings. I can deal with one or two words but when there are 10 - 15 words misspelled in a space of three paragraphs, it's pretty annoying....
