I mentioned yesterday my self-inflicted status as "displaced person": I never felt particularly "Scottish" whilst living in Scotland, as I did from birth in 1950 until 1989; in fact the one period I had of living in England - whilst I was at University from 1969-1973 - did not make me feel either... An important thing to understand about this journal is, that it is a record of (some) thoughts of a deeply introverted person and not an appeal for psychiatric help; I have spent years coming to terms with the type of shyness that forms part of my personality and I just find it extraordinarily... That is not to say that the distinction between personality and character made by psychologists and educators may not be valid, but I have come to believe that the idea of fate and the human person (oneself - myself - yourself) is bound up in a rather mysterios way which I have only come to... I must break into what I was saying and mention to you that I have only just begun to use a computer. I bought a laptop six weeks ago and I am still finding out how to use the most basic tools on it.
