Three days later...
Storm clouds are blowing in, bringing cool and probably some thunder and rain, after a sunny, hot morning. As expected, my insurance company agreed the car was a total loss, and the money for it is already in my bank account. Farmer's Insurance, if you want to know. We've heard nothing yet from the police or insurance company about the guy who whacked us then drove off. No dramatic physical problems have developed though we continue wary.
