Some Background Info

This post was made elsewhere yesterday, but it gives you a peek into the background of my writing. *********** I've been very busy today, doing things that need to be done. I just sat down to do some re-editing on my first big selling story and found a very emotional part where my wife (then... Sign in to see full entry.

Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) has resumed its 'Storyteller' contest. I use to get these on a steady basis, but then they stopped for about two years. I got a third place prize of a very nice Kindle for a short story in 2015. The email I got this morning said: The Kindle Storyteller Award is a... Sign in to see full entry.

I have used Grammarly since October of 2015, and I thought I liked it. Then I found Pro Writing Aid. (PWA) I signed up for the free two-week trial, and I didn't even wait for the trial to be over. I canceled my soon to be renewed version of Grammarly and bought PWA for half the price. Why? Grammarly... Sign in to see full entry.

I had high hopes for an avalanche of writing this week. I could have never foreseen the obstacles that have jumped up. Between the weather interruptions of power and the threat of loss of power, I've lost a lot of time I would have normally spent writing. We've had more 'unexpected' guests who use... I had an idea for a short story late last night. It's my typical "roman le clef" thing - a true fictionalized story - based on something I experienced in 1974. The event was horrific, but it left me being thankful I was there. The event has never left my mind and the impact has been with me as well.... Sign in to see full entry.

Key Words

If you publish on Amazon (or any other platform) you know they always ask you to provide up to seven keywords potential readers might use to find your book. This is a great article on that subject. Sign in to see full entry.

To my utter amazement, my Vella project took off early, and it is still moving fast as of this morning. My earnings on it for February, a short month to begin with, plus I didn't start it until the sixth, made about $89. I figured out how to view 'earnings to date' for March, and it is already at... I'm Done With It!

I wrote about getting a free two-week trial of 'Pro Writing Aid' the other day. I am less than forty-eight hours into that trial, and I have made up my mind that I will toss the pay version of Grammarly and buy the PWA app. I have used Grammarly for eight years, ending in two weeks. It is half the... Sign in to see full entry.

Pacing

This is an interesting article on setting the pace of your work. This is the first time I have gotten this notice, but the chapter it was checking was setting the scene for something else. Sign in to see full entry.

The Pro Writing Aid program 'grades' your work after uploading it. Most of my grades have been excellent or at least above their minimum acceptable points. However, I have two bad grades. The first one is a grade on 'Working Words' and 'Sticky Words.' Here is the link to their definition of the two.... Sign in to see full entry.
