I have pulled the 'old' version of 'The Brick' from Amazon while I continue to not only edit it again but re-write and expand on several subjects. I can't recall what book I read of James Scott Bell that started me following his blog, but I am glad that I did. He sends out an email every few weeks. Some are interesting, and some aren't, but the advice might be worth as much as you paid for it if the email is free. In this last email, he talks... Sign in to see full entry.

The 'G&G Method' of Editing One of the quickest ways to get bad reviews is to send up a poorly edited manuscript. In late 2015, I accidentally sent up the first draft of... Sign in to see full entry.

Story Arcs
This is from my 11,500 booklet on 'So You Wanna Be A Pantser...' Story Arcs You would suppose that there would be no difference between a story arc for a plotter versus a story arc for a pantser. I would say there is a tremendous difference between the two. If you are plotting out your storyline,... Sign in to see full entry.

Writer's Block and Other Issues Anyone who writes anything beyond a note to their Aunt Bessie will run into the wall that is 'writer's block.' It happens to everyone. When the mind gets tired of a subject, it will just decide it can't work on the topic at hand and shut down. When this first happened... Sign in to see full entry.

More from my booklet on 'Pantsing.' 'Pantsing' Isn't For Everyone Before I lay out any more about becoming a pantser, you need to know the pantsing pitfalls. If you look up the term in a search engine, one of the first problems you'll see listed will be that you will get stuck. I'll be honest with... Sign in to see full entry.
