Persistance In Prayer

Psalm 88:1-2--"O L ORD, God, of my salvation, I have cried out day and night before You. Let my come before You; Incline Your ear to my cry." The psalmist is full of troubles, cries out often to the Lord, but does not seem receive an answer from God. The world looks at this and exclaims, "See,... Sign in to see full entry.

Name Registered

Psalm 87:6--"The L ORD will record, When He registers the peoples: 'This one was born there.' " The reference above is to Zion, and how blessed it is to be one who was born there. I draw a parallel. How blessed it is to have one's name registered in the Book of Life, as a citizen of Heaven! Sign in to see full entry.

Sinner, Call Upon The Lord

Psalm 86:5--"For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You." How does one react upon realizing that he or she has sinned? Adam and Eve tried to cover themselves and hide from God. Davi, however, reacted much differently. David knew that he had... Sign in to see full entry.

Mercy And Truth

Psalm 85:8-10--"I will hear what God the L ORD will speak, For He will speak peace To His people and to His saints; But let them not turn back to folly. Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him, That glory may dwell in our land. Mercy and truth have met together; Righteousness and peace... Sign in to see full entry.

A Sun And A Shield

Psalm 84:11--"For the L ORD God is a sun and shield; The L ORD will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly." There is so much in this verse, and even more for those who walk in the Lord's spirit. God, like the sun, is our source of life, who nourishes us... Sign in to see full entry.

God's Ultimate Goal

Psalm 83:18--"That they may know that You whose name alone is the L ORD, Are the Most High over all the earth." The psalmist in the verses prior to the above concluding verse pleads for Israel's enemies to be vanquished and shamed. However, as he acknowledges, God's ultimate goal is not to destroy... The Ungodly Are Puffed Up 'Gods'

Psalm 82:6-7--"I said, 'Your are gods, And all of you are children of the Most High. But you shall die like men, And fall like one of the princes.' " In the context of this psalm, the designation of 'gods' refers to rulers entrusted with caring for the poor, afficted, and fatherless. The term is... Sign in to see full entry.

God's Exasperation With A Stonehearted People: 'If Only. . . "

Psalm 81:13-14--" 'Oh, that My people would listen to Me, That Israel would walk in My ways! I would soon subdue their enemies, And turn My hand against their adversaries." God has chosen a people that they might walk in His ways and be blessed. Unfortunately, His chosen people Israel often acted in... Sign in to see full entry.

Bread Of Tears

Psalm 80:4-5--"O L ORD God of hosts, How long will You be angry Against the prayer of Your people? You have fed them with the bread of tears, And given them tears to drink in great measure." Like Psalm 42, the psalm scripture above makes reference to "the bread of tears." The above passage concerns... Sign in to see full entry.

The Last Mile

Psalm 79:11--"Let the groaning of the prisoner come before You; According to the greatness of Your power Preseve those who are appointed to die." Before I stray too far off the path, I will put this verse in its proper context. Psalm 79 is one of several written by Asaph, who witnessed Israel being... Sign in to see full entry.
