that is terrible darling. Which ever way you look at it, he loses. I am thankful that Wiley gave me his car keys early into his illness.

It is getting worse all the time.  It was nothing like that when my Dad went in to care in 1991 and my Mom in 1994.   Everything kind of went nuts after the turn of the century.

What a difficult transition this is - and all of the paperwork just adds to the horror! My heart goes out to you. May there be a little light of happiness that shines each day for you, dear S. Sister.

Bureaucrats should have term limits, too!

The bureaucracy has made things into a pain many a time, unfortunately. I'm not sure how we can make things more efficient. A lot has to be undone.

It's no wonder we end up dismayed and disappointed with the systems that are supposed to care for us in the areas we can't cover ourselves or our near and dear.

Machine-think has taken over our 'civilized' world, and individuals are no more than cogs and toggles.

Sorry you are having to go through this experience. I know how hard it is.

I recently helped my daughter place my ex in a nursing home. Luckily the case manager helped fill out the forms for her. I had to make phone calls about bed space to the local rehab nursing facilities. He hit a telephone pole head-on and was in ICU for 2 weeks. Had a factured hip that had to be repaired, along with broken ribs, lacerated liver, broken sinuses, and he has early dementia. He will be going from rehab bed to long term bed in same facility. If he gets discharged, he has to go to jail.

Words of love might still work.

I call what you've been dealing with the bureaucratic

merry-go-round. The wheels spin but nothing moves forward, different offices have contrary regulations and exceptions to regulations that can get the red tape so tangled up it takes a sharp cookie like yourself to cut through it.  Good on you for keeping on and seeing it through.

The main thing should be that you no longer have all of that in front of you, it is mostly behind you... Hang tough!

Those wheels have been turning slowly for us too. I am so sorry that you have to deal with it as well on top of everything else. Those forms that you speak of have been a cause of stress for us since January. We have had to completely handle insurance benefits paperwork, and life insurance through my husband's job due to HR not handling that part anymore. We have to upload documents and fill out the necessary paperwork from our side as if we understand their documents. It has been no picnic. Then they warn you that if all isn't sent in by April that you can be denied benefits. More fun. I hate technology in so many ways.
