Re:GoldenMean

Wow! Thank you for the compliment, GoldenMean. Glad you were intrigued by this little portion of a ditty. The beauty of poetry and song lyrics is surely that each individual reads and interprets the words in a personal fashion. Please see this piece's explanation in my response to Naut's comment.

BTW, my soul and I communicate quite well, in reality. Writing little poems and phrases comprise many facets of one's soul/spirit/essence/being and imagination. As to the state of the world situtation, I personally feel more than a deep sorrow for such conflict, at times even a tempered rage, but people such as you, Naut and others with their views are the ones who write about those matters, and are surely more qualified than I to do so. Perhaps any 'foul curtains' to be torn asunder lie elsewhere in the cosmos? :) Cheers!

Re: Nautikos

No confessions necessary, Naut! LOL! Bolton is rather obscure in the world of poetry and songwriting. He was a British businessman and philanthropist. As to the poem/lyrics, glad you and Golden Mean are intrigued. It's all quite simple, at least to me, and I'll share. Here's the background info:

Think of the old movie, Topper, meeting Highlander, the book and TV show based on Diana Gabaldon's book(s) . In Topper's opening scenes the two main characters have been in a car crash and don't realize immediately that they're dead. In Highlander, the main character is from the 1940s, but 'accidently' is transported to the 1700s; hence the line in the modern lyrics written for the TV show's theme song, ' ...all that was me was gone.'

I'd just finished watching and the melody had become an ear worm. The lines popped into my head. It's not autobiographical but I may write a story based on this. Then again, I may do lots of things... LOL!

You are quite right, CC. Many things, indeed! Glad you enjoyed it.

RP

An intriguing verse indeed,  well written....  but I would hope that you and your 'ghost' (spirit, soul) would have better communication and understanding of each other.  The fact that they do not,  is what troubles me about the rotten state of the world and cosmos.  What is it,  that is putting a foul curtain between you and your 'ghost'...?  The curtain must be torn asunder,  one way or the other.  Cheers

I must confess - I am not familiar with Bolton's poetry. But I am intrigued by your multi-faceted poem...

Great.  I had to read it three times...once outloud.

Re: Annicita

Thank you, Annicita. I used to only write poetry in rhyme, but took a liking to free verse... LOL!

Re: chuck_ibrahim

Thank you so much, Chuck. I'm sorry I didn't initially post a link to the song(s), but, because of your comment, I have now posted them. The traditional story is a very interesting part of Scottish history.

Re: Re: Re: Kabu

What a fun experience that must have been! You are very talented to sing, act, write poetry, children's stories, novels and so much else. Wow! Children's stories would be quite difficult for me, I think. I am in awe, S. Sister.

Re: Re: Kabu

I once wrote a children's melodrama withsongs and story line. The musicians made my songs so much better . Taking some of the verses out ...after we 'discussed it' and repeating lines. Suddenly we had real songs that were great.

Re: Kabu

Yes, it is, though since I was too lazy to rhyme, it wasn't quite lyrics to me, so I left it alone, calling it a poem. But I'm glad you love it, dear S. Sister. Hope today got better for you. It was about the same way here! LOL! I could rattle off a litany of stuff...
