As you can see by my reply to CTT, I am actually wonderfully fortunate--including that my house has a second 'necessary room' where I don't need to carry a bucket of water to flush the toilet until the cold water returns to that 'en suite' bathroom. In fact, I usually shower in the one downstairs anyway because it has a wondrous, thunderous, pounding shower while the upstairs one is totally meh.

Thus far, in my house, I have been fortunate that no freezing has occurred. At first, I used to not run the cold water, but now I do...I'm looking forward to photos of the Christmas hats.

keeping the heating on keeps the pipes free. The external taps are all turned off.
I have problems with the grocery list. Once I never needed one. It was all in my head. Now I add to it on the friddge door as I see we need things. Trouble is it is still on the fridge door when I am in the store. Sigh1

It always seems to me that advance planning would be a wonderful
genetic adaption, but I don't have it. Back-and-forth seems half the art of crafts...

You have no idea...
Going out front door +forget to unlock on the way out + to start the engine, to warm the truck and defrost + close door to go to the mailbox + have purse [phone, AAA info, computer reading glasses]+ forget the autolock mechanism which operates when engine is turned on...
2nd equation: Garage door is unlocked + reading glasses are by my bed + I can make phone calls through my computer + AAA has me in the records already so can find my information without my having the card number...

Oh! dear Ciel you do seem to make hard work for yourself. You are brave washing in that bath room. I always let the outdoor tap drip in frosty weather.
