Re: Pat,

How would you like to trade your pointy bendy hat for one of mine? Tell me what colors you like and what size hat you wear, L/M/S or other, and I would be delighted to make one for you!

That's quite a thing that you do with the ties and hope the weather lets up and I'm sure you'll accomplish your tasks in good time.

It I suppose work for winter, better than moping. I remember years ago my young brother at the time bought a pair of wellingtons I looked at them in horror the came secondhand from prison surplus. I sterilized them for him with formaldehyde gas. Those were the days.

I made a peaked hat - crocheted it - around Halloween, intending it

to be a witch's black hat, but the brim is narrow and rolled a bit, more a bit for a wizard. I like that it has bends and dents that follow irregularities in the thread. I'll bet your troupe could use it at some point...

Yes, there are some finds in thrift shops. It was fascinating about the ties also.

Very interesting on the ties! I like busy days! I hope you keep warm, too! sam

Yes, bundle up and stay safe and warm. The earlier part of your post about the ties. I saw the most beautiful craft I'd ever seen before. It was a medium size footstool made entirely from old ties sewn together and assembled onto this footstool very securely! Pure genius and talent at its very best...I'd say!

Re: TAPS,

it's a great source for period costuming, sometimes actual vintage, sometimes retro vintage-look. I may start advertising on Craig's List and maybe ebay as well, seeing as I have the photos already, and there are some quite nice things in the collection!

My K.C. Sis does a lot of thrift-store shopping (at least once a week) and then spends a lot of time washing the clothing if needed, describing the item, taking pictures and then reselling on eBay.  Not always does she get a hit but once in a while...  A few days back, she bought a famous brand sweater for $2.50 and resold it for $90.  She has lots of fun doing that.
