Pat

I was a city boy, and I would spend the summer either with relatives at a farm, or sometimes with my parents at some seaside resort. I always preferred the country, where I could ride horses and was even allowed to drive a tractor. And I always dreaded the end of summer and the return to school...

It never did seem like summer here.  Not once did the temperatures reach 100o.  And I seldom had to use my a/c.  School is in full swing and school buses everywhere in the morning and afternoon.

I enjoyed the summers in a different way. While living in the city we would spend the summer in the country. Our country cousins would think our life was great while we would think theirs was great. It was fun and wenquickly.

we have some fall color here and there just coming in. I refuse to acknowledge it. I am enjoying wearing Summer clothes, being outside, the garden and watching as the World around me procreates. love Winter, but I can wait.

Loved it Pat wished I could have been there, but I think I must have been helping my Dad from about 11 years as his helper had to join the forces, and mother helped normally.

Memories, Pat-B. Your description of the summer activities brought me back; our doings were very similar, except we had the farm animals to care for, rain or shine, winter or summer. It seems to me it is much harder for the kids today, whcih means the family and/or teacher support needs to be stronger.

Pacific Northwest summers are, most often, idyllic!

The rains cease, the occasional heat spell into the 90s only lasts a week or two, the sunny days are usually in the 70s and 80s, and humidity is nothing like the tropical eastern side of the country.

Your description of your early summers there--makes me nostalgic for what I missed out on by growing up back east. And a kid's life today... makes me feel kinda sick.
