"Tricks are for kids"  according to the rabbit on the commercial popular when I was younger. Glad it went well anyway.

The Rose, if memory serves me, was an excellent movie,
if a little mature for those little stinkers. No doubt they knew perfectly well it wasn't rated G...

Well that is something you just never know "virginal" I thought I was until the first kid came.

I know about getting hoodwinked by kids, too! Only this one was for rap! They said I had to buy it for them at the record store! And I said, if you are old enough to buy it, you are not old enough to listen to it! When you said they wanted you to go with them, I instantly thought of my experience! Kids, gotta love 'em and their means to get what they want! lol sam

Somehow it is real easy to imagine a 10 year old Kabu suddenly deciding to invite the girls for a B-day party...without permission first, LOL! Loving spontaneity!

Kabu
Nice to have kids that you can trust, for the most part. I'm with you, though, I still keep my eyes and ears open!

Birthday party memories...........
We had a lot of birthday / swim parties since we were the only one in the whole neigborhood to put in a swimming pool. But the cost was worth it since one time before our pool was installed, we took our kids to the  lake and a woman took off her top in the water. I decided I would "police" my kids parties and activities after that.  And that was years ago. I never thought of seeing something like that at a public place. We always had great birthday parties. We had lots of kids at our house all summer, too. But at least I knew where they were at.  Thanks for reminding me.

i think it's an unwritten rule that you have to have some blood and guts for a movie party.

what great memories, Kabu and wonderfully rendered in words.  Reminds me of the story about my cousin who got a PG rated movie (harmless) from her bro-in-law to show to her 11 year old and friends.  About 10 minutes into the film, she heard not a peep in the room and saw all dozen of them transfixed, watching a porn flick.  Her in-law had switched videos by mistake!  Now THAT had to be explained to the parents!!  Mal

The movies sound rather interesting. It's interesting what can become of parties.

re/movies then, compared to today
So many movies and TV shows now are just plain gross! I doubt if you would have permitted them at that party.

Kabu, that other movie sounds a lot like "Alien"...
Sigourney Weaver (Aussie, I believe?) starred in it, and yes it was gory in a couple scenes, but at least no one lost their heads.....
