As I sit here reading this on the evening of The Fourth of July, it sounds as if there is a war going on outside my window.  Booms, bangs and rat-a-tat-tats are constantly sounding and as it is beginning to get dark, I can see flashes of light in the sky that have nothing to do with a rainstorm.  It seems as if the artillary is increasing, and I can truely imagine what it must be like to be filled with fear instead of the happiness of celebration.

Change is hard enough and with unrest it makes it even more difficult! Sorry to be late catching up but my son had returned to Afghanistan and it takes me a few days to get back in the groove! Thankfully I have your story to keep my mind occupied! sam

wow, those were 'scary' times --- wow, marching of the boots would have been terror to many and poor Jilly - she has such an open, loving heart.  Yes, I'm on to read the next installment.

The beginning of the end of the little charming people when such a regime takes over.  Very poignant and an interesting slant to these fairy tales, one way these types of creatures may have extincted if they ever did exist.

Uh-oh. Why do I feel that she doesn't fit the then-German quest for human perfection???
